Built in 1834, 73 meters above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, the lighthouse dominates Cape Hainsart, as it is known because of the oaks that surrounded it and which have been replaced by tamarisk trees. This cape marks the boundary between the sandy coast of the Landes and the rocky coast of the Basque Country. It is equipped with a dioptric lantern and period Fresnel lenses. Not only you can visit the building with all the explanations concerning its construction and pretty anecdotes, but the 360° view that the Biarritz lighthouse offers on the city is quite exceptional. From the ocean to the southern beaches of Landes and Basques, to the mountains and all the way to the Spanish border, it is this vastness that makes us so humble. A magical place that offers a 360° panoramic view.
