The name Bliesbruck is a reduction of the village's German name, Bliesbrücken. Brücke means "bridge" in German and ends in "-en" in the plural. It must refer to the fact that the bridge connects the two main parts of the village. The village is now well known thanks to the Bliesbruck-Reinheim archaeological park. This archaeological dig site, which is still in operation, traces the history of the Gallo-Roman and Celtic civilizations. Every summer, the Vita romana show retraces chariot races, gladiator shows, workshops, crafts, music and ancient dances.
