An association proposing to make discover the history of the site of Marcognac, which is a heritage under restoration.

The first place where kaolin was discovered in the commune being difficult to exploit, it is on the site of Marcognac that the extractions continued. The good quality and fine veins were used in particular for the manufacture of Sèvres porcelain. Around the quarries, there were houses, barns and drying rooms, forming a real hamlet that bears witness to the working life and activity of the place for 200 years (from 1786 to 1986). And in the hamlet, we also discover the stable, the carpentry, the forge...

Opening time and information on MARCOGNAC SITE

Open in July and August. For openings from March to November it is on request. Open Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 2.30 to 5 pm. During the summer period, guided tours and the rest of the year by appointment. Off season: minimum group of 5 people. Free until 12 years old. Group (5 people): 5 €. Guided tour (by appointment only, all year round). For more information, contact the tourist office or the Marcognac association.
