THE COROT SITE
The Corot site is classified as a natural area of floristic and faunistic interest
Classified as a natural area of floristic and faunistic interest, the Corot site is a charming and picturesque place. The river Glane makes its way through the rocks. Superb ferns, the royal osmonds, grow there. This preserved natural area, today very popular with fishermen and hikers, was a source of inspiration for painters, including the Saint-Juniaud Jean Teilliet (1870-1931), painter, musician and preserver of the traditions of the country, but also for Jean-Baptiste Corot (1796-1875). A medallion sculpted by Henri Coutheilhas was affixed to a block of granite to recall the visits of the artist. Also worth seeing is the Corot chalet, a small restored building where the painter is said to have stayed. Picnic tables invite you to spend a long and peaceful moment there.
