Museum showcasing the evolution of ceramics around the world, with a prestigious collection of Limoges porcelain
If you're passionate about Limoges ceramics and porcelain, a visit to this museum is an absolute must. Installed since 1900 in a building built specifically to house its collections, it bears the name of one of its former directors, Adrien Dubouché, who greatly enriched the museum's collections by donating thousands of objects of his own. After an exceptional renovation, the museum has doubled in size.
From Antiquity to the present day, you'll discover the different techniques and the evolution of ceramics around the world. Two rooms are devoted to the prestigious Limoges porcelain collection. On the same level, push open the door to the glassworks, where some remarkable pieces are on display. Don't forget to take a look at the museum's superb stained-glass windows. In the spacious reception hall, you'll find a bookshop selling books on the arts of fire, postcards, reproductions of works of art, tableware and jewelry.
Throughout the year, the museum organizes exhibitions, lectures and activities for adults and children. Museum Mondays" offer themed tours of the collection accompanied by a lecturer from the Musées Nationaux network (tea is offered at the end of the tour).
The museum also boasts a library and documentation center with over 8,000 documents on art in general and the decorative arts in particular.
