Superb library and rooms with a view of the vineyards in Saint-Emilion.
At Château Franc Grâce-Dieu, you'll enjoy undeniably charming spaces, such as the lounge or the superb library, where you can spend hours relaxing in peace and quiet. Chess fans? A giant chessboard awaits you. Stone, fireplaces and antique tiles are tastefully combined with modern touches in the decor. Each room is decorated differently, with views of the vineyards, park or garden.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Château Franc Grâce-Dieu was so poor that I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property is poorly maintained and badly managed.
The first impression was already disappointing: the entrance and common areas looked dirty and unkempt, and the whole place felt damp and neglected. Instead of the charm one might expect from a château in this region, we were greeted by a musty smell and a noticeable lack of care. The rooms were even worse — they were damp, cold, and dated, with peeling paint, worn-out furniture, and no sense of comfort.
The mattress in our room was extremely uncomfortable, sagging in the middle, and clearly in need of replacement. Sleep was impossible with such poor bedding and the oppressive damp air. Adding to the discomfort was the so-called “air conditioning,” which was nothing more than a small movable unit. It was so noisy that we couldn’t use it at night, and it barely cooled the room anyway.
In addition to the physical discomfort, the service was equally disappointing. We attempted to contact the owner or the person in charge to express our concerns, but no one responded. At no point did we feel welcomed or cared for as guests — the attitude was indifferent at best, and bordering on neglect.
Given the area's reputation and the price they charge, I find this level of quality unacceptable. There are many other beautiful, well-maintained properties in the region where you will be treated as a valued guest, which sadly was not the case here.
I would strongly advise against staying at Château Franc Grâce-Dieu. It was a deeply uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience that left us regretting our choice.
Hopefully, management will take these comments seriously and make drastic improvements. However, as it stands now, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

And the house and gardens are full of character. Stunning!
The en-suite bathrooms are modern and the water flow is strong in the showers. The kitchen also has decent facilities for a large group (there were 8 of us).
But the house smells damp, the Aircon in the bedrooms is provided by mobile units that are not sufficient and very very noisy, no Aircon in the lounge which was very hot, not enough seating in the living room, the outside facilities are rudimentary so you can’t really cook or prepare food there, and the whole place needs an upgrade.
Also, the sheets and towels were not changed once during our week, and there was no help with cleaning, so it doesn’t feel very luxurious. Also there was not very good wine wear like classes even though this is a working vineyard with wine tasting classes on offer in the annex of the house.
Also, there were no little extras that you usually find in these country houses like board games, backgammon etc. you really need to bring everything you need with you.
I’d also recommend you avoid arriving at night. The place can seem a bit spooky when you arrive uncertain if you are in the right place, no lights on and no one to greet you.
All in all we had a fantastic time in a stunning location but the house was overall disappointing. I can’t recommend it.
