ATD Fourth World was born in 1957 under the leadership of the Humanitarian Association Aid for all distress. Father Joseph Jozef has added to this association the term quarter-world, thinking of all those in the world suffering from exclusion and poverty. Today, the association helps all indigent people to emerge from their situation through concrete actions. Assistance to populations in need.
What do they propose ? ATD Fourth World offers voluntary actions, without limitation, and summer actions from 2 to 3 weeks in order to help families in difficulty to recover their dignity. This necessarily implies the project to promote their reintegration into social and cultural life, by relying above all on ownership of their cultural achievements and by helping them access modern knowledge. Volunteers will have to organize street libraries, pre-schools, knowledge and solidarity clubs, home houses, etc.
Where ? For volunteerism (at least 2 months), ATD works in 23 countries. As far as the actions of one summer are concerned, you can stay in France, leave in Belgium, Spain or Switzerland.
