Angelina is probably one of the most famous Parisian tea rooms. The "old lady" celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2013. We come here first of all for its "Africain"; a thick, hot and creamy chocolate accompanied by a small pot of whipped cream, as well as for its Mont Blanc, a meringue filled with whipped cream covered with vermicelli chestnut cream. As a stylist, the pastry chef unveils his collections twice a year. Recently, he showcased on his podium at Trocadéro, the combination of milk chocolate with hazelnut crunch. The setting has retained its charm with its large paintings and gilded mirrors. Angelina also has its own shop where you can buy a wide range of sweets to enjoy at home or while strolling around Paris.

Depuis plus d’un siècle, Angelina Paris s’est imposé comme un lieu gourmand et raffiné, avec ses emblématiques Mont-Blanc et chocolat chaud à l’ancienne. Le salon de thé devient l’incontournable rendez-vous de l’aristocratie parisienne proche du Louvre (Coco Chanel, Marcel Proust, …).
Le décor, conçu par le célèbre architecte Belle Epoque Edouard-Jean Niermans, plonge dans une expérience hors du temps. Angelina c’est un moment de sérénité et surtout de gourmandise !

Déception sur toute la ligne. Les deux créations sont lourdes, sucrées, sans aucune légèreté ni équilibre. Les textures manquent d’aération, et la pâte à choux, trop dense, reste sur l’estomac.
Le visuel est soigné, certes, mais cela ne suffit pas à compenser le manque flagrant de finesse gustative. À ce prix-là, on attend autre chose. Honnêtement, le petit pâtissier au bout de ma rue fait bien mieux — et pour moins cher.
Une expérience que je ne renouvellerai pas.
