The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie specializes in the dissemination and promotion of science and technology to the general public. Created on the initiative of President Giscard d'Estaing and inaugurated by François Mitterrand in 1986, it is located in the Parc de la Villette (a very pleasant place to visit, especially in fine weather) in the ^19th arrondissement, close to the Porte de la Villette (underground parking lots easily accessible).
