CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE
The Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie specializes in promoting science and technology to the general public. Created on the initiative of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and inaugurated by François Mitterrand in 1986, it is located in the Parc de la Villette (very pleasant to explore, especially in fine weather) in the 19th arrondissement, close to the Porte de la Villette (underground parking lots easily accessible).
The city is well known for the spectacularly designed Géode, which houses an immersive cinema. Every two years, on even-numbered years around November 11, it also hosts the Rencontres du Ciel et de l'Espace (Sky and Space Encounters), a popular trade show for amateur astronomers who, over several days, meet, enjoy lectures by renowned astrophysicists and discover all the latest in astronomical instruments (telescopes, accessories, observatory domes, software...).
In addition to the scientific spaces on offer, a planetarium is also very active and, above all, equipped with a new ultra-high-definition projection system (inaugurated in February 2017, to the 8K standard) with numerous sessions aimed at all audiences. The viewer's immersion is total, with no visible grain in the image and remarkable fluidity. Temporary exhibitions are also organized on a regular basis.

Je souhaitais venir en famille cet été et en parler à des amis de province, je vais m’abstenir.
Tellement triste.
Our daughter is deaf and uses a cochlear implant, so we thought this exhibition centered on sound and silence would be especially meaningful for her. She’s mature, thoughtful, and engages deeply with these concepts every day. It felt disheartening that a hard rule like this excluded exactly the kind of visitor who could connect with the exhibit in such a personal way.
We understand that age guidelines are there for a reason, but some flexibility or case-by-case consideration, especially for children with sensory differences, would make the experience more inclusive.
Other than this, my daughter and I did not really enjoy the rest of this museum. Exhibits are a bit lackluster in content and appearance.
Visité le 12/07. Beaucoup d’expo en travaux ou non disponibles. Il faut changer des choses !
