Nice name for this fruit and vegetable store that was in another time a house selling snails… It is Max Huguet who transforms it into the 1960 s of the halles. Today it is his son Serge who is the chief gardener. It is high quality self-service where prices remain within reasonable limits, no more expensive than in the corner of the corner with quality plus. And then we take a full look, the colors of fruits and vegetables are beautiful, we quickly feel that we are in a place of quality. The seasons are respected, so don't ask for cherries in November… only the rule at the time of Christmas holidays…

Make no mistake about it, Canal Bio is not a cable channel, but an entirely organic supermarket. On more than 300 m², all the products are within reach of the eye and the hand with more than 7,000 references. There are about a hundred cereals and all the products of a classic supermarket, with a large part devoted to fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, a beautiful dairy section, cheese by the slice, fish, butcher's shop, a frozen food section, an organic wine cellar, not forgetting ice creams as tasty as they are light.

It is located in the middle of the buildings of this Place des Fêtes, the heart of a popular neighborhood that evolves for good very quickly in recent years. It is a shaded market with a total of sixty shops of all kinds. They align themselves on both sides of the street and on the square. It is animated and the products are generally of good quality. Some twenty greengrocers and many foreign specialties and non-food products, from plastic boxes to sewing thread. It attracts many people, mainly on Sunday, when many inhabitants of the arrondissements of the east, and neighboring towns come. Born in 2022, the boutique du Paon qui boit is a very special cellar, as it is the first alcohol-free cellar in France. On site or via the online store, you'll find no fewer than 450 products, including de-alcoholized wines (yes, it exists and it's even good), beers and cocktails, as well as fermented and plant-based drinks like kombucha. A great initiative for those wishing to reduce (or stop) their alcohol consumption. Tasting workshops are held regularly.

We really like this little market with its popular atmosphere and its proximity to Avenue Jean-Jaurès, which offers a wide range of pretty shops. Once you've done your shopping, it's time for a stroll around the neighborhood: to the east, the Buttes-Chaumont are just a few hundred meters away.
