PHILHARMONIE DE PARIS

Concert hall for classical music opera and dance
4.5/5
31 reviews

Conceived in the 1990s, it took more than twenty years for the Philharmonie de Paris (concert hall and music city) to be built. Its architecture, designed by Jean Nouvel, is worth a visit, with a hull-shaped building topped by a large ridge whose gentle slope has created a promenade on the roof that offers a superb view of the capital and the suburbs. Inside: a 2,400-seat auditorium with undulating curves, an educational center, an exhibition hall, studios... Superb!

CABARET SAUVAGE

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4.2/5
27 reviews

Wood chiselled everywhere, red velvet, bevelled mirrors... and a ballroom floor where it is so good to dance! The Cabaret Sauvage is the offspring of the Magic Mirrors, which occupied the same venue in the Parc de La Villette for a while. The Cabaret Sauvage hosts artists from all musical backgrounds, with a predilection for rock, reggae, jazz and chanson. If Goran Bregovic, Khaled, Keren Ann, M, Bratsch, Les Wampas, PJ Harvey or Arno have played here, it is not by chance.

UGC CINÉ CITÉ

Cinema
4.3/5
3 reviews

Located in the area of Paris with the most significant changes in recent years, the last-born of the UGC range is open since October at the very location of the former Claude Bernard Hospital, closed in the 1990 s. In years, it's a quarter that has literally transformed itself from the state of wasteland to the very popular place of life. It was therefore normal for a UGC cinema to come into this relatively dépourvu place. With 14 rooms and more than 2 800 seats, the place is a large area covered with a fine metal jacket giving it a chic and sober appearance. And the actors did not get there because, in a few months, dozens of poster heads came to present their works. Test this movie, you won't be disappointed!

LE ZÉNITH

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4/5
4 reviews

This concert hall was not destined to last: it has been in existence for almost 40 years. And the Zenith is so successful that it has "copies" all over France, in Strasbourg, Nantes, Orléans: there are over twenty of them today! Le Zénith is a must-see venue in the capital and the region, and not a single successful artist passes by this venue, which is one of the largest in the region. Modular - that was the novelty at the time - the building seems to have been erected only recently, so much has it not aged.

TRABENDO

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4/5
2 reviews

The Trabendo is located in one of the small red buildings built in the Parc de La Villette. Park historians may remember the first venue here, but Trabendo has quickly swept the past under the carpet. Since 2000, this seven-hundred-seat venue has continued to expand its program: Manu Chao, Calexico, The Neptunes and Bugge Wesseltoft have all played here. Note: the murals are signed by Futura 2000, a historic figure in New York graffiti. And the word "trabendo" comes from contrabando, Spanish for contraband: quite a program.

LE CENTQUATRE

Village halls and multipurpose halls
4/5
1 review

More than ten years after its opening, the challenge has largely been met. Indeed, the Centquatre brings together in a single, very large space, various sites of artistic creation and production open to all disciplines, and which offer various shows, screenings, readings, performances, exhibitions, workshops for young people or adults... What a lively place, on the very spot where the municipal undertaker's service - a building dating back to 1873 - was in operation until 1997. The Centquatre, or 104, which is a place of art, you have understood, is also a place of life. Restaurants, brasseries and shops are spread out in the immensity of the place.

GLAZ’ART

Cafconcert

This institution knows how to renew itself and is still a sure bet. Glaz'Art has gradually become the cult place of the Parisian underground scene, offering electro festivals, concerts and exhibitions by contemporary artists, screenings of short films... This bar is not only a place where you can drink alcohol, but it is a real meeting place of the different artistic creation. The place is particularly pleasant in summer, thanks to its garden terrace which is ideal for smokers. Events in the evening are regularly held there; to find out what it is, just have a look at the website. To find it, get out of the metro, go to Aubervilliers and two hundred meters from the ring road, it is on the left: it is important to know that as, if you come for the first time, it is not always easy to find out where it is situated!

An atypical place that will soon become the pertussis of Paris… Run it!

LE ZÉNITH

Village halls and multipurpose halls

It is very difficult to find an artist of any renown that the curriculum would not indicate a passage through Le Zenith. Either in front of a festival, or at a festival, of a support party to this or that. The programming is mainly oriented towards all forms of popular music: songs, rock, reggae, rap… At each concert, large crowds pass through a lot of the park of La Villette to join this strange construction of a metal frame covered with a silver canvas. Inside, it can accommodate up to six thousand people. The room is adjustable. So you can find yourself in a more or less large area, with seating seats or promenoirs. One of the strengths of the Zenith is that visibility remains correct. There is never more than 50 metres between you and the scene.

Le Zenith is the first new equipment to have opened its doors in the park of La Villette. Inaugurated in 1984, it is the work of architects Philippe Chaix and Jean-Paul Morel. The first artist to have occurred there is Renaud. It was for the then Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, that he was created. For a good time, the capital needed a large space to be organized with great concerts for young people. There was another installation for electric and hairy music: Pantin Racecourse, a top where the best formations of the 1970 s, babas, hard and punk, from Gong to The Clash, passing through Trust. Barbara went on as well. But it eventually gives way to this Zenith, whose concept is now declining in sixteen major French cities.

MK2 QUAI DE SEINE / QUAI DE LOIRE

Cinema

Two hangars designed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1878 Universal Exhibition house two of Paris's best-known cinemas, separated by the Bassin de la Villette: MK2 Quai de Seine and Quai de Loire. The former features a restaurant, while the latter is home to a bookshop. While the programming is classic, the complex's 12 screens are all great places, linked by a river shuttle.

Childrens show

This place which is located in the vast Paul Delouvrier lodge is dedicated to children: the bodily awakening room, digital museum, reading room, drawing wall are a few examples.
