PORT D'ANTIFER
Discovery site
Recommended
The oil port of Antifer was inaugurated in 1976. It was in response to a need to welcome supertankers to France. The site offered a natural bunker several kilometres wide filled with sand, which was easy to dredge. The cliff, 100 metres high, is dug to build an access road. The dike is 3.5 km long. Today, 50 supertankers per year are hosted in Antifer. 20% of crude oil imports into France pass through Antifer.
