Saint-Jouin-Bruneval has the advantage of a beach where it's nice to sit on the terrace for an aperitif. The two villages forming its name were merged in 1823. As early as the 12th century, the name Saint-Jouin - a hermit from Poitou - is attested. Another interesting feature is the presence of the deepwater oil terminal at Cap d'Antifer since 1975. It was used by supertankers as Le Havre's outport during the closure of the Suez Canal. Today, it is under-used. The town is also famous for General de Gaulle's speech on March 30, 1947, commemorating Operation Biting on February 27, 1942.
