An oasis in a former Rouen cemetery, a serene and shady site for strolling or relaxing, with on-site galleries and restaurants.
This ancient cemetery was built in 1526 to bury victims of the plague. The bones have now been relocated, giving way to a beautiful space where you can stroll and admire the architecture of the galleries in this square courtyard. Observe the half-timbering embellished with reliefs of skulls, crossed tibias, and other gravediggers’ shovels. The highlight? A mummified cat! Today, the site is home to art galleries and a renowned restaurant. Serene and shady, the aître is well worth a visit and can be discovered with an audioguide or a guided tour.
