Church in Rouen with a magnificent example of Gothic architecture and an organ used in a concert today
The abbey church was built between the 14th and 16th centuries. Its proportions are imposing, to say the least: 137 m long and 26 m wide. The fifth church to be built on the same site, it was the work of Abbé Jean Roussel, who began construction in 1318, a project that would last three centuries! It's a magnificent example of Gothic architecture, but its masterpiece is inside: the organ built by the great Cavaillé-Coll in 1890 is still in use today, notably for concerts. Restoration work is scheduled for completion in 2024.

Нинішня будівля церкви спочатку була побудована як церква абатства Saint-Ouen для бенедиктинського ордену у 1318 році. Будівництво було завершено в XV столітті.
Церква має довжину 137 метрів під склепіннями висотою 33 метри. Центральний перехід увінчаний незвичайною вежею у вигляді ліхтаря. Вежа була завершена в стилі Flamboyant.
Добре збереглися ду красиві вітражі, виготовлені у XV-XVI cтоліттях з прозорого та матового білого скла. Це дозволило створювати, за рахунок проникнення більшої кількості світла, більш яскравіший інтер’єр, ніж це характерно для класичних готичних церков. Я чомусь вважав що вони просто трохи змінили свій колір на більш світліший від часу та погодних умов.
Західний фасад так і не був завершений у середні віки. Сучасна будівля була побудована між 1846 і 1851 роками вже у трохи іншому архітектурному стилі - у неоготичному стилі.
