Square in front of Le Havre’s monumental town hall, a sunken garden with ponds and sculptures by Jean-Pierre Lartisien.
This is one of the sites that Auguste Perret himself wanted to oversee. He died before the work was finished, but left the finishing touches to his architects, notably the 18-storey tower - what a superb and unique vantage point from which to appreciate Perret’s work and the beauty of the city! Unfortunately, it’s not open to the public often enough. In front of the monumental town hall, a sunken garden with ponds, sculptures by Le Havre-born Jean-Pierre Lartisien and, of course, flowers and plants.

Une place immense entourée d'immeubles en béton aux lignes austères avec une belle fontaine moderne animée, qui est bien intégrée au modernisme environnemental de cette ville.

superbe et surprenant
Cette place découverte un soir d'hiver est étonnante, tout y est original, et on a la surprise de découvrir une place splendide, et qu'il y a donc des architectes du béton qui étaient des artistes, à noter aussi un éclairage original

Unique en son genre avec la reconstruction du centre ville du Havre après sa destruction lors de la 2è guerre mondiale.
Reconstruction en béton armé par Perret avec une pensée globale totalement innovante pour l'époque.
L'hôtel de ville et les immeubles qui l'entourent en sont une illustration.

Il fait bon s'y promener sur cette belle grande place piétonne et très "aérée". Beaucoup d'espaces verts et de passer en font un lieu privilégié pour la promenade et la détente. De belles constructions tout autour de la place ont été édifiées de façon très harmonieuse. Très bien quand viennent les beaux jours et quand il y a un peu de monde.
