LE CHÂTEAU DES QUATRE-FILS-AYMON
Château des Quatre-Fils-Aymon, overlooking the Dordogne and besieged by Charlemagne in Cubzac-les-Ponts
The ruins of the Château des Quatre-Fils-Aymon are listed as a Monument Historique. Besieged by Charlemagne, the castle overlooking the Dordogne was rebuilt by the Earl of Leicester for the King of England during the Hundred Years' War. In 1453, during the Battle of Castillon, the castle was dismantled. Now in ruins, all that remains is the entrance gate. For lovers of old stones and medieval legends, these ruins are well worth a visit!
