The vineyard of the castle of Arlay would be one of the oldest in France. Vines are attested since 1070 at the foot of its fortress. This "Bon Pays" which borders both Bresse and Revermont belonged to the Burgundian counts. From then on, this enclave was called "Little Burgundy" because of the remarkable acclimatisation of the pinot noir grape. The vines are still grown here as they are in this region. The 25 ha estate is still run by the de La Guiche family (Alain, Anne and Pierre-Armand). It was a pioneer in the use of the lyre system.

From its creation in 1973, it took ten years to taste the first wines. The family estate, now run by Sébastien, covers 20 ha and is a certified independent winegrower. The estate is concentrated on L'Etoile, Quintigny, Ruffey-sur-Seille and Arlay. Here you'll discover wines made from classic Jura grape varieties. The location of the vines, with its particular terroir, confers a beautiful typicity highlighting everything we love about Jura wines. This fifty-year-old estate is a well-deserved benchmark.

The Bourdy family can boast of being one of the oldest winegrowing families in France, having settled between 1475 and 1500 in this commune, which was owned by the Dukes of Burgundy for a long time. Since then, 15 generations have succeeded one another under the vaults of the 16th century cellars. They also secretly keep the oldest recipe for macvin, the one of the canonesses of Château-Chalon who had copied it on parchment. It contained no less than 25 spices! Since 2010, the farm is certified "biodynamic" (Demeter).

Ideally served with a Jura wine, trout has seen its breeding develop as a matter of course in the region. And if you can buy trout and smoked fillets from this small local fish farm all year round, it is in the summer that the purchase becomes a real leisure activity. Aquatourism", so to speak. As soon as the weather is nice, you can take your own cane and donkey to try and catch your evening meal, on a 70-metre course. The trout are gutted by the owners of the place and you leave with a fish ready to eat. And if you miss the recipes, we will be able to advise you on the preparation, the cooking... Some ideas as a foretaste: trout carpaccio, trout meunière with Jura wine, trout sushi, trout terrine, trout roe, trout with blue cheese... DOMAINE DE SAINTE-MARIE

Local producer
4.9/5

Open - Close to 19h00

The de Sainte-Marie family, represented by Bertrand and Gaëtan, continues a family winegrowing tradition that goes back two centuries. Their 14 ha estate is spread out in the northern part of the vineyard, from Champagne-sur-Loue to Etoile. 7 clos, on either side of the Revermont, which produce mainly white wines. The reconversion is also engaged there. We particularly appreciated this "Ensemblage" (chardonnay, poulsard, savagnin), a 100% trousseau 2019 from a very "primeur" vat, and above all a yellow wine from 2005 aged 10 years in a room!
