Esplanade created in the early century on the site of Château Trompette
Created at the beginning of the 19th century on the site of the Trompette castle, the Quinconces esplanade slopes gently down towards the Garonne. The 12 hectares surface area makes it one of the largest squares in Europe, hosting events, concerts, circuses and fairs. At the heart of the square is the Monument aux Girondins, built between 1894 and 1902 in memory of the deputies of the Revolution. On either side of this column, two basins take place with dazzling sculptures called The Triumph of the Republic and the Triumph of the Concord.

La place pourrait être belle mais celle ci est mal entretenue. Lors de ma derniere visite , elle etait ecombrée de cabane defraichie a moitié démonté. De plus les bateaux de croisière à quai gachent la vue sur le fleuve.
Beautiful is large square in the heart of Bordeaux. Separating the heart of the city of quays, this ticket can accommodate many events such as the fair with pleasure, cirques, flea markets,... a huge meeting place
Beautiful place, especially in winter when the bronze statues are cold. In the heart of Bordeaux you must stop and from there arrange tour of the old burgundy, the small train that is served before the tourist information centre
The largest square in Europe, superb when the funfair and its ferris wheel sit!
