The current Saint-Jean train station was called by the users «the wooden station» long ago. After 40 years of provisional work, the building, completed in 1900, is the manifestation in Bordeaux of the architecture of the railway in its triumphant and monumental phase. His halle remained for ten years, one of the largest in the world. The station has been completely renovated with the arrival of LGV and the neighborhood is undergoing a change with the Bordeaux Euratlantic project one of France's largest development operations with over 730 ha on the municipalities of Bordeaux, Bègles and Floirac.
