A gate built by Nicolas Portier between 1748 and 1750, which symbolizes the entrance to downtown Bordeaux.

The magnificent Porte Dijeaux, located at the beginning of one of the two main pedestrian streets of the city, Rue Porte Dijeaux and Rue des Remparts. It opens on Place Gambetta, which has been completely remodelled since 2020. After months of work, the place is getting a makeover! The Porte Dijeaux replaced the previous gate that had been built a few metres closer, towards Place Gambetta. Its construction is attributed to Nicolas Portier between 1748 and 1750. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1921, it is a true symbol of entry into the city centre of Bordeaux, in the heart of the shopping district.

Très facile d'accès grâce au tramway ou à pied. Jolie fortification. À visiter lors d'un tour au centre-ville.

Super ballade à faire !
En plus des vestiges, super ballade à faire dans le quartier, rues piétonnes avec de nombreux commerces et restaurants sympas et abordables. L'un des quartiers de Bordeaux que nous avons le plus appréciés.

La Porte Dijeaux est situé au niveau de la place Gambetta et ouvre sur la rue Porte Dijeaux, très commerçante, qui rejoint ensuite la rue Sainte-Catherine puis la place de la Bourse. La porte dijeaux est encore debout au milieu de la rue, elle est simple mais plutôt jolie.
