Bell tower of the magnificent 15th century gothic cathedral, which can be visited to discover a superb view of Bordeaux.
The Tour Pey-Berland is the cathedral's bell tower, erected between 1440 and 1466. This flamboyant Gothic edifice was built in the 15th century (circa 1370-1458), and owes its name to Archbishop Pey-Berland, the architect of the revival of the Church in Aquitaine, which had previously been under English domination. The visit is superb, but requires a good level of fitness, as you have to climb the 229 steps of a spiral staircase to discover the belfry's framework, the four bells and the exceptional view of Bordeaux and its monuments. The view is well worth the effort!

Gigantesco mirador para poder disfrutare de una vista panorámica de Bordeaux. Es una visita obligada en la ciudad.
Para poder ascender a los dos miradores, a diferentes alturas, es necesario subir 233 escalones de caracol, estrechos. Es ascenso requiere de cierta forma física aunque es seguro. Los miradores están bien protegidos y no hay riesgos alguno.
Es OBLIGADO comprar la entrada con antelación en la página web de Centre des Monuments Nationaux, para reservar día y hora. La visita se realiza en 30 minutos fácilmente, con bastante tiempo para disfrutar de las vistas mientras te recuperas de la ascensión.
Es una lástima que la zona de campanas no se encontrara arbierto al público pero, aún así, mereció la pena su visita.
