The submarine base is one of five built on the Atlantic coast to house submarine flotillas during the Second World War. This imposing construction could never be destroyed due to its robustness. Beneath its bunker-like appearance, this 235-metre-long, 23-metre-high military relic is a cultural landmark not to be missed. Today, the base is home to the Bassins de Lumières immersive digital exhibitions.

"La base sous-marine, c'est un incontournable ici, même si on la voit tous les jours ! C'est impressionnant de voir ça de près, surtout quand on bosse dans la métallurgie. Ça rappelle l'histoire industrielle de la ville. Et puis, il y a souvent des événements ou des trucs à voir. C'est un bon spot pour une balade ou juste pour prendre l'air et se rappeler où on est.
