Big Bell being part of the ramparts of Bordeaux, then converted into a prison and became a belfry, to see in guided tour

In the Middle Ages, the Grosse Cloche was part of the city walls, before undergoing numerous modifications. A rare monument from this period that Bordeaux has preserved, the place was transformed into a prison - you can see the drawings and inscriptions of the inmates who counted their days of confinement - before becoming one of the most touristic belfries in France. If you like to travel back in time, opt for a guided tour. It's best to come at night, when the Big Bell is lit up with blue lights!

La Grosse Cloche est une tour imposante des anciens remparts de Bordeaux, qui plus est toujours debout. Elle peut se visiter, en visite guidée, et c'est instructif. Sinon on peut admirer ses détails de l'extérieur en passant dessous.
