DOMAINE BERTHET-BONDET
Read moreChantal and Jean Berthet-Bondet left everything behind in 1984, leaving their profession as agricultural engineers. In love with the Jura wines, it was in the most famous city of yellow wine that they chose to create their estate. Having no family ties to the wine industry, they built up their estate plot by plot. 15 hectares now, in agrobiology since 2010, a third of which is Château-Chalon. Since 2018, their daughter Hélène has joined them. The white wines, including the famous yellow wine, and other wines, whether or not they are oaked, largely occupy the barrel. A warm welcome guaranteed.
DOMAINE MACLE
Read moreDomaine Macle is one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in the Jura. It is also a well-established estate, dating back to 1850. Laurent Macle took over the domaine in 1995 and has maintained it as one of Château-Chalon's leading addresses, earning him the nickname of "the pope of yellow wine". 4 ha of the estate's 12 hectares are planted with Savagnin grapes, and the remainder with Chardonnay in the Côtes-du-Jura PDO. Vinification takes place in 16th-century cellars, in oak barrels of course. A very fine house.
DOMAINE J-C ET A CREDOZ
Read moreThis is a beautiful estate that has seen several generations succeed one another since 1859. Valentin took over after Annie and Jean-Claude. He started the reconversion to organic and biodynamic farming. With more than 9 ha, there is no lack of work, including 4 ha in the Chateau-Chalon appellation. The "Sous Roche" vineyard alone is evocative! All the grape varieties are present, including an exclusive Chardonnay hillside in the Château-Chalon AOC. In the cellar you will find wines of character vinified with great care, reflecting the Jura terroir.
MAGASIN DES FROMAGERIES VAGNE
Read moreThe fruitière in Château-Chalon was taken over and renamed "magasin des fromageries Vagne" 20 years ago, by the union of the Vagne cheese dairy in Poligny. Founded in 1926 in the capital of the Comté region, Vagne had prospered without ever abandoning the traditional maturing process carried out on site. It therefore bought the excellent ripening cellar of this fruitière to make it "its" store. More than just a moment's shopping, a visit here is a great opportunity to discover how Comté cheese is made and matured. The store, housed in a cellar, sells Jura cheeses all year round. You can also discover local specialities such as salted meats and snails... A glass wall allows you to contemplate the beautiful, untouched maturing cellar.
DOMAINE JEAN-PIERRE SALVADORI
Read moreThe Salvadori family had nothing but courage and the will to succeed when they settled in Château-Chalon. Since 1983, Marie-Ange and Jean-Pierre Salvadori have built up their estate vine by vine. today, 4 ha are cultivated on the slopes of the most highly-rated yellow wine. They produce Château-Chalon, but also Savagnins, typical whites and Macvin. Most of these wines are produced on "blue marls". It is these marls that have given their name to the estate's beautiful gîte.
DOMAINE GENELETTI
Read moreMichel Geneletti began viticulture in the Etoile appellation in 1976. His son, David, joined him over 20 years ago, but has now decided to take a step up to the most prestigious benchmark, Château-Chalon. The estate covers 15 hectares, producing mainly whites. There are also vines in the Arbois appellation. Try the Crémant du Jura. A low-carbon nose gives way to fresh apple and fine bubbles. A well-balanced wine to enjoy as an aperitif or with a meal.
