The fruitière in Château-Chalon was taken over and renamed "magasin des fromageries Vagne" 20 years ago, by the union of the Vagne cheese dairy in Poligny. Founded in 1926 in the capital of the Comté region, Vagne had prospered without ever abandoning the traditional maturing process carried out on site. It therefore bought the excellent ripening cellar of this fruitière to make it "its" store. More than just a moment's shopping, a visit here is a great opportunity to discover how Comté cheese is made and matured. The store, housed in a cellar, sells Jura cheeses all year round. You can also discover local specialities such as salted meats and snails... A glass wall allows you to contemplate the beautiful, untouched maturing cellar.
