It is the first commune of Haute-Saone crossed by the Saône. The Vosges and the Haute-Marne are not far away. The city of Jonvelle, nestled in a double bend of the Saône, was occupied from the Neolithic era. In the 1960 s, the village priest discovered the traces of a Roman occupation. The remains discovered, especially a beautiful mosaic, are now the subject of a museum. The village also has a very beautiful church.
