River tourism is an opportunity for the valley of the locks and Montgon which intends to take advantage of this opportunity. Between Le Chesne and Rilly-sur-Aisne, 27 locks line the Ardennes canal. 17 of them are located in Montgon's territory. The 14th lock, "la 14", is located at the level of the bridge of the departmental road 25 crossing the canal. We are here in the heart of the lock valley. If the canal crosses the town of Montgon from one side to the other, the heart of the village is high up, dominated by its bell tower, overlooking the Montgon valley. Several remains of old hamlets are perched on the surrounding hills, easily accessible by foot, as well as opportunities for country walks rewarded by a beautiful viewpoint, the flight of a heron, a kingfisher or a variable buzzard.. Two shaded picnic areas with table, benches and bins are available, one on the RD 25, at the intersection of a tarred rural road when you arrive from the Chesne, the other in the centre of the village, near the town hall in the meadow. An easy loop of 1.5 km allows you to discover the village centre, the church and the cemetery with their viewpoints. Part of the route takes the towpath. Departure from the town hall, climb to the church by stairs via the washhouse, exit on the left at the back of the church after crossing the cemetery, then gentle descent to the right by the road leading to Montardré, small bridge over the canal, towpath on the left, with large bridge over the canal and lock 14.Lake Bairon is located 5 km from Montgon, a nature refuge that delights birdwatchers and fishermen with the wild "Vieil Etang", and recreational boaters, swimmers and campers with the "Nouvel Etang" converted into a leisure centre, the two areas being separated by a sea wall.
