La Posada is one of the best gastronomic restaurants in the city. It is also advisable to dress accordingly. Traditional Madrid cuisine to be tasted in a historic place: the building dates from 1642. At the sea bass, you can find tapas and raciones that are as delicious as they are hearty, with snails, shrimps, mackerel in vinegar, and torreznillos (small pieces of fried pork skin), among others. La Traviata is a Italian-Italian restaurant near the Teatro Real and the Royal palace. If you visit the Los Austrias district in the morning, enjoy breakfast! You can also enjoy tapas or excellent steak in the top, tiled and white room, or dine in the basement, more distinguished but still lively. On the menu: salads, fish, meat, and of course a wide choice of pasta and pizzas.

Located on the outskirts of the Santiago-Bernabéu stadium and the financial district, the Petit Comité is the perfect option if you're visiting Madrid's stadium or going to see a match. Value for money here is excellent. The tasting menu comprises a starter, four courses and a dessert. We particularly recommend the steak tartare, which you can enjoy outside on the lovely, sheltered terrace. On match nights, the screens are out and the atmosphere changes completely!

La Taberna Pedraza is a restaurant run by Carmen and Santiago. Together, they seek to promote Spain's culinary heritage. But he's in the dining room, and she's in the kitchen. And her cooking is succulent. Authentic gastronomy, fresh local produce, her dishes are an immersion in Spanish culinary culture. The "cocido de Carmen" is a reference here, and has made the reputation of the address. The pleasant atmosphere is a blend of rustic and modern, with exposed brickwork, muted lighting and wooden chairs.

The tapas are quite original, very well prepared and offer excellent value for money. And the ingredients are cooked at no more than 80°C to avoid spoiling them, hence the restaurant's name. The Menu del Dia (14.50 euros; Monday to Friday at lunchtime) is a real must.

Open since 1702, Casa Pedro is a former inn for muleteers and herdsmen who took the French route to get out of town or to Madrid. The sale of Garnache wines and specialties such as roast lamb, cochonnet and local produce attracted such illustrious figures as members of the royal family, artists, bullfighters and politicians of the day, as evidenced by the dedications lining the walls. It's a beautiful building with a rustic architecture that's unique in Madrid. A true temple for wine lovers.

Just a stone's throw from the famous Prado Museum is the Café Murillo, named after one of Spain's best-known painters, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Finally, to escape the museum crowds, you can book a guided tour in French. So you can avoid the queues after enjoying a good meal!

After years in New York, the Llama Inn, a stylish design address, opened its doors in Madrid in 2022. It's the perfect place to enjoy high-quality fusion cuisine, which modernizes Peruvian classics with Spanish touches. The menu, perfectly executed by chef Luis Cornejo, features always-fresh produce and beautiful assortments to share. At the bar, excellent cocktails highlight Latin American culture, with a superb selection of pisco and other exceptional liqueurs.

Just a few steps from the popular cable car and the green Parque del Oeste, Rosales 36 offers a beautiful terrace and a very stylish room for a gourmet break after a long walk. On the menu, the proposals are rather classic and not really unforgettable, but they are rather well done and the presentation is very neat. To note, it is also a very good address to drink a cocktail at the time of the aperitif in a very pleasant frame. And moreover, one is rather well accomodated there. An address to remember.

At Santerra, talented chef Miguel Carretero reinvents the great classics to offer a menu of the highest quality, full of inspiration and technique. Largely inspired by his native land and the flavors of La Mancha's terroir, he delights the world in both the restaurant and bistro areas. Notably thanks to the croquetas, reputed to be the best in the world! The wine cellar is also of good quality with no less than 350 references on the wine list. An address of Salamanca to be tested absolutely.

Decadente's cuisine is as good as its decoration... resolutely Instagrammable: frankly contemporary, even avant-garde, but in any case always in good taste. For a rather reasonable price for Madrid, the menu of this dimly lit establishment with its lounge atmosphere offers truly original combinations and knows how to revisit Madrid's gastronomy. Before or after dinner, the cocktails are also excellent, but beware, the service can be a bit fast. To be tried anyway!

A few steps from the famous temple of Debod, here is a very good tavern with a friendly and contemporary atmosphere and which works wonderfully with Spanish products, especially from the province of Jaén in Andalusia (Úbeda is a town in the province). Antonio, the friendly chef-owner, has put on the menu some nice proposals that are a little bit off the beaten track in Madrid, like the red tuna or the excellent grilled artichokes (not to be missed!). A small and efficient menu to be washed down with the good bottles of the house.

There's also a fine selection of beers and wines (by the glass or bottle, mainly from the Jerez region). In short, a new restaurant in the capital that we warmly recommend!

This brand-new Gran Vía address is sure to delight carnivores! In a trendy setting, you'll enjoy the talents of chefs Moisés Fernández and Daniel Larios Lerín, both of whom worked at Paco Roncero's prestigious Terraza del Casino. Here, he knows how to bring out the best in fine cuts of meat, including Angus beef tenderloin, Iberian pork and juicy pork chops. Meat grilled in front of you and accompanied by excellent vegetables. A real treat after a few tapas or a cocktail at the bar.

The Robuchon Group's newest restaurant opened in Madrid in 2022. Housed in the emblematic Embassy, once a den of political spies, it brings to life the visionary culinary legacy of the late chef. In L'Atelier, Robuchon's iconic recipes, such as Imperial Caviar and the famous Mashed Potatoes, take their place, while local produce is given pride of place. The terrace is unique and, at the end of the evening, don't miss a detour to the basement speakeasy for a cocktail.

Ikigai offers a veritable culinary voyage! Nestled in the heart of the Salamanca district, you'll be amazed from the moment you enter this interior space inspired by New York apartments. In a warm, intimate atmosphere, chef Yong Wu Nagahira brilliantly revisits the great classics of Japanese cuisine: gyozas with white shrimp, Japanese croquettes with Robuchon purée and dried wagyu or the famous nigiris. Each bite holds an unexpected surprise. Accompanied by a glass of sake or wine, you're in for a real treat!

On the top floor of Callao's famous Corte Inglés, this food court is definitely worth a visit. Here, you can stroll between numerous stalls and take a culinary world tour. A dozen or so stands, spread over more than 1,500 m², allow you to devour a fine artisanal pizza, sample some excellent Mexican specialities or a few tapas from the Basque country, and so on. Welcome to the best pizzeria in the neighborhood, with a smile on your face! Simple, fresh and well-made (which is quite rare in the Spanish capital), these wood-fired pizzas, which seem to have come straight out of a restaurant in Naples, are just perfect before starting your (long) evening in the bars of Lavapiés. If the card is rather classic, it is easy to find what you are looking for. And it's a change from the eternal tapas! Neapolitan Authentic Pizza (NAP) is successful and it's deserved! Opening in September 2022, Estimar, which has already proven itself in Barcelona, is the capital's new gourmet restaurant and, above all, a prime spot for tasting mainly ultra-fresh fish and seafood. In a contemporary setting, the Gotanegra family and Andalusian chef Rafa Zafra reinvent seafood in a kitchen that opens onto the dining room and offers a true culinary experience with iodized flavors. The clams and sea urchins are particularly well prepared and delight the taste buds.

Here's a place that's off the beaten track! La Casa Endulzada is all about magical decor and an atmosphere that seems to come straight out of a fairytale. As for the menu, it offers brunches measuring one meter (!) for two people, waffles, toasts, tapas and a few more sophisticated dishes... All washed down with magic potions! These potions take the form of cocktails, with or without alcohol, or smoothies. An original address for a moment out of time!

As soon as you enter, you're plunged into the Madrid of yesteryear. Behind a beautiful period façade, you'll be delighted to discover this typical tavern. Founded in 1786, it is one of the capital's oldest restaurants. In fact, it's the oldest bullfighting establishment in Madrid that hasn't changed its decor. Barrels, old bullfighting posters, gas lamps - it's all there. A real trip back in time! In the kitchen, you'll find all the classics of Castilian cuisine, from tapas and tostas to more elaborate dishes.

Casa Mortero, which opened its doors in 2021, offers a subtle return to tradition. And the success is there in this simple and design space that offers a menu that is certainly inspired by the great classics, but adds a touch of modernity and originality in each of its dishes. For starters, we liked the marinated mussels and the typical Salamanca torrezno and potatoes. Then we had to choose between different stews, meats and grilled fish before finishing on a sweet touch with a caramelized cheesecake. A delightful treat!

Nestled in Retiro, this is a multi-faceted establishment. With its indoor and outdoor terraces, this restaurant embodies the excellence of Florida Park. Chef Alberto Padin's expertise and talent are evident in every culinary creation. The à la carte menu celebrates seasonal cuisine, and features some of Madrid's must-try dishes. In fact, the ham croquette has won an award! You can also enjoy a plate of sushi to share, or octopus grilled to perfection. Reservations are recommended!
