Malasaña's "ochentagrados" is a not-to-be-missed restaurant in the neighborhood. In a modern, industrial-style room with exposed stonework, you can enjoy an excellent tapas menu. The tapas are quite original, very well prepared and offer excellent value for money. And the ingredients are cooked at no more than 80°C to avoid spoiling them, hence the restaurant's name. The Menu del Dia (14.50 euros; Monday to Friday at lunchtime) is a real must.
