Auto-moto events New Aquitaine

This unique annual event in France has just celebrated its 80th anniversary. Two sessions follow one another: the Grand Prix which races modern cars (Formules 4, Cathéram and prototypes from French and foreign manufacturers) and the classic Pau Grand Prix which gives pride of place to old cars (such as the "pre-war" F1 or very chic GT models). The engines roar in the bends and make the eyes of thousands of visitors shine. Thanks to the new low-carbon liquid fuels, this event is now part of a sustainable innovation approach. From the paddocks to the city center, the festivities are going well during these two weeks of spring.

Each year the event allows to attend the races in town, animations, exhibitions of vehicles, tourist rally on the roads of Charente... Several categories of vehicles take part in this historical event: GT and tourisms before and after 1965, pre-war, the famous Bugatti plateau, Grand Prix cars from 1908 to 1954. Some vehicles take part in the concours d'élégance or in the state and restoration contest.

The history of the Deux-Sèvres region has been marked by motor sports, of which Bressuire was one of the great strongholds. Mayor Alain Métayer, president of the automobile club, founded a famous urban circuit there in 1951, which was abandoned in 1955 after the 24 hours of Le Mans accident. A few heirs of the great era took up the torch 16 years ago in the form of a vintage car-motorcycle rally and other customized machines. The grand prix takes place in the city, with trials, a night race, a parade and a prize-giving ceremony.
