LE PORT DE L’ARSENAL

Port
4.5/5
2 reviews

A simple defensive ditch in the 14th century, this port only became a basin in the 16th century. In the 18th century, a development plan decided to build a canal between the Ourcq River and the Seine. Around 1825, the Saint-Martin canal was built to connect the Villette basin and the Seine at the Arsenal, thus reducing the distance between the Henri-IV quay and the Saint-Denis island and bringing drinking water to the city. Later, the barge traffic made it a commercial port, transformed into a marina in 1983 and whose gardens you will appreciate!
