ABITIBIWINNI ADVENTURE CULTURE
Read moreThe Abitibiwinni community ("the people of the lake" in Algonquin) consists of 850 members, 560 of whom remain in the Pikogan community.
The community offers canoe excursions on the Harricana River in Abitibi-Témiscamingue territory, discovering their culture and environment. Native guides will tell you about the history of their ancestors, the Algonquins of Pikogan and the secrets of medicinal plants. On the 200 km of river, the camp sites were constructed with tents or tipi; there you can enjoy traditional dishes. At the end of the stay you will also have the opportunity to visit the Artisan shop and the village of Pikogan. The community offers one-to-one-day walks during which you can see different species in their natural environment (otter, beaver, birds and, with luck, a moose).
WIINIPAAKW TOURS
Read moreThis solidarity cooperative invites you to set sail on an ecotourism cruise on James Bay. Departures are from Waskaganish and are available in two formulas: 1-day or sunset. Not only will you be able to admire the northern flora and fauna, but you'll also be able to explore the islands and discover the Cree communities along the bay's coastline. The cooperative plans to develop a base camp where you can stay in Creetopia ready-to-camp tents, custom-designed for the Cree Nation.
