The Saloon has been one of the high points of the Village for more than 25 years. A trendy and very popular restaurant, it is mainly known for its creative local and international cuisine with generous portions. The choice is vast, from classic nachos to tartars, mac and cheese, poutine or various burgers, after sipping one of their many cocktails. The service is always courteous and efficient. And just to satisfy all the senses, DJs take over the decks in the evening for those who wish to stay up late!

The regulars meet there for an aperitif, around a pizza or fried squid. In the summer, the terrace is one of the most pleasant green spaces in Toronto. The Terroni Group owns several restaurants in town, as well as bakeries, a delicatessen, a bar, a wine agency, an online terroir shop, etc.

Opened some 20 years ago by chef/owner Alida Solomon, who has received numerous awards over the years, Tutti Matti offers tasty Tuscan cuisine based on fresh products and homemade recipes. Pasta and bread are made on site daily and the team also makes its own cold cuts. We like to be able to assist in the preparation of our dishes, the kitchen occupying a part of the room. Cathy Ortega and Gerald Aquintey, the duo behind the restaurant, offer you the typical cuisine of the Philippines without having to pay the price of a flight to this Pacific country. The small space is both uncluttered and warm, the tableware is original and delicate, the service impeccable, and what can we say about the dishes on offer? Fish and seafood dishes, pan con tomate, Spanish ham, homemade pasta: everything is absolutely delicious and very fine, and fits in perfectly with the intimate, slightly chic atmosphere of the place.

Grand finalist in enRoute's Best New Restaurants 2022, Fonda Balam is the brainchild of chefs Kate Chomyshyn, Julio Guajardo and Matty Matheson. The trio offers authentic Mexican cuisine, inspired by their roots and/or travels in that country, where the great classics rub shoulders with street food. Tacos are very popular here, as well as the birria, a typical stew from the state of Jalisco prepared here with beef. A small list of interesting cocktails and a few craft beers (some from Mexico) complete the menu.

The Divino Wine Bar is distinguished by its excellent choice of wines, its delicious Italian hors d'oeuvre, of course, and its dishes that vary according to the seasons and the arrivals. The curious will explore the wine and cooking area where a wine tasting area, or even better, will take some courses on Italian cuisine with assortment of wines. Even language courses are available!

Owned by chef Marc Doiron and his wife Jennifer Wojcik, this Ottawa foodie spot is a hot gastro-pub in the capital. The Italian-inspired cuisine is an ode to flavour, simple and comforting, but always evolving. Whether it's for a meal or an aperitif, Town is definitely an address to put in your notebook. To top it off, they also have a second restaurant, Citizen, which offers small dishes in the same line, wines and cocktails.

The AG Inspired Cuisine restaurant at the Sterling Inn & Spa boutique hotel is an absolute gem! Chef Cory Linkson and his brigade make a point of concocting fine cuisine using regional and seasonal products, all from a "farm to table" perspective. The result is creative and totally stunning. A bistro menu is also offered from Tuesday to Thursday for those sitting at the bar. And to complete the experience in beauty, extend the pleasure with a room or a suite on the spot. You won't regret it!

Located a stone's throw from St. James' Church, this Japanese izakaya offers only Japanese specialties, as well as revisited versions such as Moshibèkon Yakitori ( moshi and bacon skewers). You can accompany your meal with a typical cocktail, a Japanese beer or, of course, a good sake. The place can be noisy at lunchtime, so be warned! Also worth discovering: its little gourmet sister, Hanzo Izakaya, located on Saint-Nicolas Street in the heart of Old Montreal. We recommend it!

Derek Dammann and his financial partner Jamie Oliver, world-renowned British chef and TV host (Naked Chef for Intimates), opened the establishment in autumn 2012. The premises look like an English pub (which means Maison Publique is the translation of Public House). So expect to find British specialties on the menu with the chef's very personal touch. To accompany all this, the house offers, for our greatest pleasure, beers from Quebec microbreweries and Canadian wines.

A gourmet address, both trendy and relaxed, perfect for a snack or an aperitif with friends. The starters are more than tempting (foie gras au torchon, duo of gravlax and house smoked salmon, cheese and charcuterie board...), the dishes are hearty and succulent (famous Saint-Sau poutine, filet mignon of beef AAA...), and the desserts are decadent. Bonus: a selection of tapas available every day from 2pm and a beautiful terrace in the heart of the action.

The secret of this restaurant is the making of the thin, crispy pizza dough. Here, all the ingredients - even the wines - are meticulously chosen, for the most part organic and sourced from local suppliers, such as the goat cheeses from Cassis et Mélisse. The owner, a Frenchman, experimented with this winning recipe in Lille before settling in Quebec City. The menu also includes tasty fresh pasta and homemade sauces. Gourmets beware: the tiramisu is one of the best in town!

We're in good hands at this attractive resto-bar set above an Asian grocery store. Poincaré's creators all come from well-known microbreweries, and the chef, who is passionate about lacto-fermentation, has come up with a number of small dishes and preserves (all made on the premises) to enjoy over a glass. Excellent wines and cocktails, in addition to a fine selection of beers. Try the fermented fries with shallot confit mayonnaise. The ideal place after a visit to Chinatown or before a show at the SAT.

A former Chinese art store is now home to THE trendy spot of the moment. The kitchen in the center of the room gives diners the pleasure of observing Japanese dishes in preparation. Sashimi, grilled duck aged in miso or tantan udon: these delicate dishes are ideal for sharing. Glasses of wine or sake take on a special flavor under the soft lighting. And for even greater intimacy, the small vinyl bar in the basement transforms into a unique club in the evening.

Beer Bros, as its name indicates, is a restaurant dedicated to beer, a growing trend in the country. The dishes are international with, of course, some classic pub types. For the smallest appetites, a deli section offers a wide selection of sandwiches, to be tasted on site or to take away. The menu of beer and barrel beers will certainly make the amateurs smile, carefully chosen by the restaurant's bièrologue.

This gastronomic pub makes a great contribution to local products. Grills, homemade sausages, greedy sandwiches and burgers, wood oven pizza, and mac & cheese declined in a dozen versions, especially on the menu. A fine wine list, numerous homemade beers including a selection in the cellar. During the fine days, their Beer Garden on the quays of the docks is highly recommended.

Whether for brunch, lunch, lunch or dinner with friends, this address is probably the best in town. Salads meals, sandwiches and burgers, fish and seafood, grilled fish, vegetarian dishes… You will have the choice of choice with options that will please all palaces. The Red Tiger is a kind of hybrid between a neighborhood pub and a typical Vietnamese street food restaurant. On the menu: green papaya salad, barbecue and sesame pork skewers, mini Vietnamese chicken and shrimp pancakes... We recommend that several people share a few dishes, so you can try everything. There's a great list of house cocktails and even a signature beer, a light blonde that goes down well. If the place doesn't have a terrace, there's a large garage door that opens wide on sunny days.

Some twenty varieties are on the menu, with countless extras to suit all tastes, as well as appetizers to whet the appetite, salads for freshness and homemade desserts on the sweet side. A fine selection of natural wines.

A cross between the Orient and Canada. Concrete gray, black and pastel pink adorn the ultra-modern restaurant housed in a handsome, less modern building. At every stage of the day, you can sample dishes flavored with zaatar, harissa, mint... And it's delicious! At lunchtime, pita bread sandwiches (fried chicken, falafel or tuna crudo) take center stage. In the evening, there's a choice of hot or cold dishes, and the brunch menu is even more varied, with a mix of savory and sweet dishes. Worth a try!

Did you know that the first steam ravioli (dumplings) were made over 1,300 years ago? This is, among other original information, what the menu of this small restaurant teaches us. Zhen, the owner and chef of Mother's Dumplings, was inspired by her mother's recipes to make mouth-watering ravioli that melt in your mouth, at equally sweet prices. The selection is vast, in boiled, steamed or pan-fried versions. The small restaurant also offers noodle or rice dishes, stews, soups, etc.

Located in Old Ottawa South, Belmont is known for its creative cuisine and house cocktails. It offers small dishes such as raw tuna, gruyere and mushroom fondue, piri-piri chicken or beef tataki, and larger dishes to share with friends called "Family Style". The weekend brunch is also very popular and for the big appetites, we recommend the "Full Belmont" which, as its name suggests, will fill you up. Also worth a visit is The Cameron, another of the group's restaurants located nearby.

Sud Forno is part of the famous Terroni chain of Italian restaurants, which has several locations in Toronto and California. In a historic building, the space here is split in two. Downstairs, there are several "Italian-style" counters selling small dishes to nibble on or take away. In the back, a bakery offers bread and pastries. Upstairs, a superb restaurant welcomes customers who want to take their time. A beautiful address that won't break the bank!

The concept of this trendy address? To elevate the pizza to the rank of queen. Large and hearty, it's served on a pedestal, literally on a raised platter, and topped with wild mushrooms, local wildflower honey, fig compote, prosciutto, house-smoked bacon and other delights. The gourmet appetizers are also worth a visit, including the cheese and charcuterie board. Typical of the growing number of restaurants in this part of Burlington, the price is a bit high but the dining experience is worth it.

Here is an atypical address in the area to know! Despite the abundance of food in the region, Garage Pizza has managed to build a good reputation among locals and visitors. You can buy a delicious pizza for a good price, in a real garage. Try the Canadian (pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms) or the Goodfella's (cold cuts, pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, onions and olives). There's not much room to eat in, so plan to take your pizza home.

Let's face it: we don't go to Chez Chili for the setting, but for the plates, each one as good as the next (and believe us, a good part of the dishes have been tested and approved!). Special mention to the excellent eggplant with garlic, melt-in-the-mouth, to be served with white rice and sautéed tofu for example, all for the right price. The service is always very pleasant and the tea is served at the table, alongside the classic water carafe. A real good address in Chinatown!

Those familiar with the now-defunct Mezcla will recognize the touch of chef Marcel Larrea, who trained at Cordon Bleu and worked at Astrid & Gastón alongside legendary chef Gastón Acurio, both in Lima, Peru. The menu is as diverse as the bar's décor, offering ceviche, scallop and parmesan tiradito, dumplings, duck anticucho and other fusion delights. The cocktails include the Pisco Sour, reputed to be the best in town. A real treat!

The Frangié family's gourmet table, Mom's recipes are omnipresent, offering a true voyage to the heart of the flavours of Syria and Armenia, with a Montreal touch. Among the specialties, you must try the delicious mazzas, the stuffed pitas, the osmally kebab or the Aleppo poutine (fries, braised lamb, Aleppo cheese and nuts). As everything looks delicious and fragrant on the menu, you might as well have several dishes to share for your table. Special mention to the incredible wine list, most of which are natural.

Here is an address where you will find everything you need: a very nice selection of local beers (often renewed), a menu with classic pub dishes but also more audacious ones. With its long wooden bar and large windows, this Hintonburg pub is very cozy. Come for a tasty brunch on the weekends or a night out with friends during the week. You'll be able to take the temperature of this hipsterizing neighborhood.

Another address of the famous Terroni Group, Spaccio West occupies a large space in the heart of one of the city's oldest factories (where Drake Commissary used to be before it closed). It's a market full of prepared foods and gourmet products, a wine store with a private import service, and a restaurant where you can enjoy homemade Italian specialties, especially the fresh pizzas and pastas that draw crowds. Another branch in the Corktown area.

If you want to satisfy a Mexican craving, this is definitely the place to come! Established in the Leslieville neighborhood since 2016, this cute and highly colorful eatery serves the whole gamut of Mexican food: shrimp ceviche, black bean soup, street tacos, cheese empanadas, pollo relleno (stuffed chicken), chicken with mole poblano sauce, etc. The weekend brunch is in the same vein. But its greatest asset is its terrace lounge with couches, fireplace, bar and an entire wall covered with street art. However, the music is a bit intense...

One of the Financial District's hottest spots, Jump offers a decidedly urban atmosphere with a lovely New York-style bar. Chef de cuisine Matthew Cooper and his brigade concoct tasty dishes with a clear preference for fresh meats and pastas. The winning combination: North American cuisine with Italian influences. The wine cellar also has some nice surprises in store, not to mention a vast selection of whiskies, bourbons and scotches. Bonus: an interior courtyard to enjoy the sunny days.

After the huge success of Sushi Momo, Christian Ventura is taking his vegan sushi concept one step further. With Bloom, the setting is a little more upscale, the style is refined in cream tones, between stone, wood and dried flowers. The menu, still in the same spirit, is very interesting. With konjac "salmon", tofu "crab" or sweet potato tempura, the vegetal creativity is limitless. The result is elegant and, above all, well-balanced. A good address for gourmets curious about new flavors.

In the heart of Little Burgundy, a stone's throw from the Atwater Market, this classic Montreal restaurant owes its name to Charles "Joe-Beef" McKiernan, one of the working class heroes of the 19th century. A refined bistro, Joe Beef is not all working class! An inventive table that mixes flavours around steak and seafood, a bistro-style menu on a blackboard, and attentive and friendly service. The owners have several other establishments: The Liverpool House, McKiernan and Le Vin Papillon.

This neighborhood address offers traditional Tibetan food in a simple and authentic atmosphere. The terrace at the back is restful as you wish. The dishes are concocted with meats and finely cut vegetables in the Tibetan style. The typical dish is the momo, a large ravioli stuffed with meat, cheese or vegetables. The Yeti menu includes a rich assortment of the house specialties. Something to feast on before planning, why not, a trek in the Himalayas!

The Byblos is an excellent "brunch spot" for those who like to indulge in mint tea and oriental sweets. The decor is a great success. The menu introduces the gourmet to Iranian gourmet philosophy, then divides into six chapters and an epilogue, giving a good idea of the variety of products to be sampled. The traditional breakfast is a must. Every Sunday from 5pm to 11pm, the restaurant offers Dizzy, a traditional dish (based on lamb, pulses, potato and tomato).

A love story led to the birth of this restaurant: a Quebec woman's gourmet trip to Italy, a local chef whose cuisine seduced her, a move to Canada and the adventure began. Roberto, the chef in question, and Geneviève, his partner in life and business, run this restaurant where pizza reigns supreme. The discovery formats for two are highly recommended, as is the rest of the menu. The Italian wine list is sublime, as is the bakery corner with its breads of all kinds.

A relatively new address on Tremblant's culinary scene, this is a very pleasant gourmet experience, and one worthy of the trattorias of Italy. The fresh homemade pastas and wood-fired pizzas are pure delight, as is the fine selection of antipasti to whet your appetite. There's also an excellent wine list, and the staff know a thing or two about wine to advise you. Mention should also be made of the restaurant's design, which uses raw materials to give it an industrial-chic look. We'll definitely be back!

Restaurant Kazu is (often) at the end of the queue, on the corner of rue Sainte-Catherine and rue Saint-Marc. Frequented by regular customers and students, this Japanese izakaya in the heart of downtown is a delight for the taste buds... and the wallet! The place doesn't look much, the interior is tiny and unpretentious, but you come for the good food: okonomiyaki, onigiris, nabemono... in short, real Japanese cuisine, tasty and surprising. It's THE place to go in the neighborhood.

An eco-responsible neighbourhood bistro, featuring Quebec products, with a clear preference for organic products. A menu inspired by the seasons and new arrivals, with delicately prepared dishes, some of which come straight from the smoker's room. Tasting menu experience with wine pairing recommended (beautiful wine cellar including a selection of private imports). In addition, it is a recommended table "Ocean Wise", the guarantee of responsible fishing. Without a doubt one of the best tables in the Ahuntsic district!

A member in good standing of Toronto's trendy culinary destinations, this gourmet address is run by none other than renowned chef Susur Lee, the same chef who opened the now defunct Susur and Madeline's. Inspired by his many travels, he offers a multi-flavoured cuisine with Asian and French influences. The concept revolves around dishes to share, exotic cocktails and a lounge atmosphere. Nice selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle as well. Reservation highly recommended on weekends.

Already the decor sets the tone: the antique mixes with the urban and industrial look, in what was once a cozy little house. The most curious will go behind the fake library to discover the floor below where their other restaurant, Jabberwocky, is located. On the menu, the foodies all agree: it's creative and well-cooked, with a nice proportion of local and sustainable products. Also a perfect place for a happy hour or to finish the evening by sipping one of the many cocktails concocted on the spot. We'll be back!

Stephen Beckta is one of the country's most recognized restaurateurs and is also the head of Play Food & Wine and Gezellig, both located in the capital. Beckta's, under the guidance of Chef Katie Ardington and her team, is a common award winner and with good reason. Its table offers a foray into creative cuisine with a good dose of local and even organic products. To fully savor it, opt for the tasting menu. Bonus: a great location in the historic 1875 Grant House.
