The Hvalbakur café with a cosy atmosphere, just behind, is open all year round.

An authentic hostel, appreciated by locals and tourists alike. During the day, it serves as a restaurant where you can enjoy tapas, pizzas, burgers and salads. There is something for all tastes and budgets, for those in a hurry as well as those who like to sit down. The service is smiling, and some of the staff speak French. In the evening, the place transforms into a lively bar, often with live music, and acts as a rallying point for the sparse population of the area.

The portions are copious, to be eaten on the spot or to be taken away and the prices are very soft. As friendly as flexible, the service is unanimous as well as the quality-price ratio of the dishes as good as generous. A delight for the taste buds!

The speciality of this establishment, located in the port area, in the middle of the warehouses, is very logically the fish (and everything that lives under the water in general!). In a simple and fresh setting, you will taste the plokkfiskur (local haddock) for 900 Kr, fish cakes, day taking with fries, excellent seafood soup or saliverez in front of a large buffet of specialities from the sea (on or off). Democratic rates allow everyone to find their happiness.

This is a small café in a typical Reykjavík neighbourhood, ideal for a break with friends in a friendly atmosphere. A few tables, a simple counter, and a clientele that comes in at all hours to have a drink or to taste what makes the reputation of the place: the delicious homemade hamburgers. We strongly recommend the blue cheese burger. When you taste one of the varieties offered, you understand why the Mac Do in the city centre had to close down! Today, Jómfrúin prides itself on offering the best smørrebrød to locals and tourists alike. You will discover here these excellent varied breads covered with meats, delicatessen, smoked fishes and cheeses in all kinds, Danish or Icelandic. You will have a nice overview on the menu with pictures. To complete the picture, there are also hearty brasserie dishes and appetizing desserts.

Naustið is a family-run restaurant in a quiet neighbourhood that specialises in fresh fish, including delicious soups and kebabs. The family that owns it loves seafood and fish, and it shows! The fish of the day is truly exceptional, always fresh, and the soup is a real delight! So accompany your meal with a good beer, or finish it with a great coffee. Not to spoil anything, the welcome is very nice and friendly, in a very cosy setting. Good location in the heart of the city.

Everything is said in the name! You will have understood, here, you can only eat fish & chips and what fish & chips! As melting as delicious and the portions of chips are generous, very generous. The price is more than reasonable for Iceland. The staff is welcoming and we enjoy ourselves. This unpretentious place offers a practical solution for small budgets and people in a hurry. To enjoy your meal, you can choose between a small room nicely decorated with references to marine life or a terrace with a view of the port.

The only restaurant on the island, so you won't be spoilt for choice! It is nevertheless a good address, where you can eat good food on a reasonable budget. Located upstream from the harbour, the restaurant offers a view of the Arctic Ocean and the north coast of Iceland. You can eat light meals based on local specialties (fresh fish, salted and dried fish, whale steaks, sea birds, etc.). The soup of the day is really delicious and inexpensive, perfect for small budgets. Groups of up to 50 people can be accommodated.

Located inside the Aska youth hostel, this gourmet address will delight vegetarians, but also vegans! The veggie burgers are delicious and generous, perfect for discovering new flavours and indulging yourself. Also on the menu, fish dishes, at least one vegan option, aperitif boards... Finally, take a look at the dessert menu, which also has some good surprises in store.

The Black Beach, both a restaurant and a cafe, is located at the end of Reynishverfisgur (road 215), a few kilometers from Dyrhólaey, right on the sea.
