FÊTE DU NAUFRAGE DE SAINT PAUL

Parties

This feast is celebrated in honor of St. Paul, or rather his shipwreck in 60 AD, while on his way to Rome from Jerusalem. According to tradition, it was St. Paul who founded the first Christian community on the island. Religious ceremonies and festivities with a parade of statues in the street take place around the parish that houses the wreck of St. Paul in Valletta (West Street). This festival is also celebrated in Munxar on the island of Gozo.
