The various thin slices of salami, prosciutto and other sausages are elegantly hung on tiered wooden displays that are brought to the table for a "wow" effect. Added to this are portions of local cheeses to pick at, tapenade toast, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and fig or onion confit. Clearly, for an aperitif worthy of the name, this is the place to be! We complete the tasting with good Slovenian wines by the glass.

A very dynamic centre of urban culture, the Kino Siska attracts crowds during its musical programmes - Metronomy, Yann Tiersen -, its exhibitions, plays and film projections. This former cinema complex was transformed into an open stage by the municipality some ten years ago. The result is amazing with the promotion of many artistic projects, the creation of a contemporary art gallery to promote local artists. Its "Katedral" can accommodate nearly 1,000 spectators.

A novelty and already the trendiest address in Radovljica! It is the union of an ultra-stylish bar with a pizzaiolo of incomparable know-how to offer a menu at more than affordable prices, which attracts a young clientele. One comes here to have a drink with friends from the large selection of beers, cocktails and house lemonades and to enjoy a delicious pizza mortadella, pistachios and fior di latte. The waiters have a good time, the music is vintage and the crowd is full of friends having a good time.

The panoramic view of Kranj? This is where you'll find it! On the top floor of Stara Pošta, originally the former post office created in 1770, is this trendy bar offering small snacks, dessert of the day and especially a very well stocked menu of cocktails, wines, lemonades, detox flavoured waters... In summer, it is the ideal place to refresh yourself by enjoying the view on the terrace while in winter you will enjoy a good hot chocolate near the large windows. We regret however that our dogs are not welcome.

Located on Kongresni Square, you can go there at any time of the day, for a lunch break, a snack or to share a drink in the early evening. The menu is particularly extensive: homemade cocktails with every conceivable alcohol, gourmet tarts (27 choices in total), savoury and sweet snacks. The coffee is offered in the Italian style, robust and tasty. You won't be able to resist for long in front of the cokoladna torta, a variation of chocolates that will undoubtedly keep you going until dinner. Fairly high rates.

With its deckchairs on the lawn and white umbrellas, the Ethnological Museum café is a must-see place to enjoy the long summer afternoons. In its pretty garden, you can read the latest novel you bought or your favourite guide book. You can also enjoy a slice of pie or an ice cream in the summer. In the fall, cultural events return to the café's artistic life. Lectures and readings are organized there. As for the rates, they are quite moderate.

Whether you've come up on foot or by funicular, don't miss the opportunity to have a drink at the castle café. In summer, the large terrace, full of tables, is crowded with Slovenians and tourists alike. The view from the promontory terrace is magnificent, allowing us to admire Ljubljana from top to bottom, from every angle. The delicious selection of desserts from Lolita cafés is on offer, as well as a wide range of coffees and soft drinks. The bucolic decor inside is also very aesthetically pleasing, making you feel right at home!

Koper's Italian minority runs this small café hidden in a garden close to the Slovenian radio and TV headquarters. Italian and Slovenian are spoken here, and the customers are mainly locals. During the summer months, you'll appreciate the small, shady courtyard. The choice of drinks is fairly standard. The establishment often organizes cultural events, including small concerts of all kinds of musical genres. As for the coffee, if you appreciate Italian robustness, you'll be well served!

Set back from the town of Kranj, Kavarna Čolnarna Trboje has been known since 2004 for its delicious homemade cakes and various fresh strawberry desserts, available from April to October. So one comes here mainly to enjoy strawberries in all forms but also for the exceptional view of Lake Trboje. It is the occasion to take over the deckchairs to sip an iced tea or a cocktail among a large selection of refreshing drinks! This little haven of peace is well known by the locals.

Ljubljana's most elegant and tempting patisserie! The window overlooking the street reveals aesthetic masterpieces that can't fail to convince you to enter. Inside, the viennoiserie corner starts with two-tone croissants and the famous dragon rolls, cylindrical puff pastry creations filled with cream. An institution of underground music that has existed since the Yugoslavian period. This club gives pride of place to electronic music with a programming mainly focused on house and techno. Theme evenings are organized on a recurring basis every weekend. The other nights of the weekend are more traditional clubbing. A good-natured atmosphere, frequented by the premises and a growing number of international students who are spread out in the two rooms that the establishment has.

A gourmet and very girly address to enjoy a snack break with a breathtaking view of the most emblematic square in Ljubljana. Inside, the decor is modern and airy. In the window, a large selection of pastries and fruit or chocolate cakes are sure to make your eyes water! A little advice from your guide: opt for the teas or the gourmet coffees. Of course, the portions are limited, but you can at least taste most of the house specialties... Better to live with remorse than with regret!

Founded in 1996, this alternative and colorful bar is a kind of open-air museum around street art works, present both on its exterior façade and inside its walls. Particularly appreciated by the local youth, the place welcomes a student public in a chic and relaxed atmosphere. It is not rare to cross there some local celebrities! The drinks are rather higher than elsewhere but the quality of the reception largely compensates for this slight drawback. Small sheltered terrace on the spot.

The Šuklje Wine Bar offers more than 300 different types of wine, no less! At the helm: a Frenchman and a Slovenian woman, both passionate and determined to sharpen your palate and your taste buds. A cosy atmosphere where the bottles are king for the decoration. So that you don't drink on an empty stomach, there are cheese and charcuterie boards, various spreads and their toasts, a beef carpaccio or the seasonal dessert. Several musical events are organized there during the summer months. Tomaž will introduce you to his cocktail specialties that have won him several international awards. This famous skyscraper cannot be overlooked when discovering Ljubljana for the first time. This atypical building, inaugurated in 1933, had the ambition to become the Yugoslav Empire State Building. With a total height of 70 m, it cannot be said that it will have succeeded in competing with the American giant, but it will have become a tourist attraction in Slovenia. With a 360 degree view, you can admire the city from all angles, as well as its surroundings on clear days. A rooftop bar completes this place full of history.

A true historical institution: the puppet show has always seduced the Slovenian people. The role of Milan Klemenčič in the creation of this scene was absolutely essential. The beautiful building on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River therefore hosts puppet shows for children and adults. Several hundred performances are given each year. The room is embellished with a pretty little museum that puts this Slovenian passion into perspective.

This bar-restaurant offers a wide variety of hot drinks, including teas. The coffee is robust, Italian style. It enjoys a beautiful shaded terrace. This bar is the perfect place for a late-night snack, with its wide selection of finger food, but above all its impressive list of beers available on draught! You'll find Ljubljana's youth coming here to chat with friends over the board games on offer. Try the Sloven'c hot dog with beer sausage or the homemade fish & chips.

Pleasant little café close to free parking. The terrace is ideal in summer for enjoying fresh homemade lemonades and smoothies. The coffee comes from Illy for excellent quality. There's a fine assortment of daily pastries that adapt to the seasons with careful aesthetics, a well-stocked premium wine list and numerous cocktails. The service is young and smiling, and the prices are very reasonable.

In the center of Bovec, this small bar with its quiet, secluded terrace is the perfect spot to sip a drink on a summer's night or start the day with a good breakfast. All day long, locals and tourists alike stop in for a break. In the morning, it's all about fresh smoothies and bowls of granola. In the afternoon, refresh yourself with iced teas and homemade lemonades accompanied by a slice of cake. In the evening, you can meet up with friends to discover a new cocktail and share an aperitif.

A nugget in the Vipava valley. Faladur offers tasty, refined culinary delights at reasonable prices, with the option of food and wine pairings. Menu prices are a little higher in the evening, but remain very attractive. The setting is very pleasant, with a constant visual emphasis on the gargantuan wine selection that adorns the premises. In the afternoons, you'll come for wine tastings, with several formulas available, from the simplest to the most premium, always accompanied by aperitif boards featuring a fine assortment of local produce.

Piranha Cocktail Bureau is located in Lent, which is the best-known part of the city of Maribor. In January 2018, the bar underwent a major renovation, giving way to an elegant venue with speakeasy airs for the evening and a beautiful, cosy, sunny terrace during the day. The menu containing no fewer than 277 spirits will quench every thirst with an impressive selection including original non-alcoholic drinks. During the day, you'll find a more classic range of coffees and a variety of desserts. Prices start at just €5.

Cosy tea room, with a pretty terrace full of flowers in an elegant courtyard with its period arcades. The place has not always been so charming: in the last centuries it was home to the local prison. Completely renovated, this café now offers a wide range of hot drinks and other delicacies. The rest of the map is much more classic. In the summer, live concerts are organised on the terrace, a really nice atmosphere!

The most beautiful architectural jewel in the town of Koper is undoubtedly this rectangular square, enclosed on all sides by beautiful buildings. One of them, a treasure trove of Venetian architecture: the Loggia. It once witnessed the city's political and social tumult. Nowadays, it's a meeting place for gourmets, where people gather at all hours for breakfast, a late brunch or an aperitif with friends. The menu can be extended to suit any situation. The quality of the offer is also top-notch!

This is Slovenia's national theater. Built in 1911, the building is recognizable by its Art Nouveau spirit and eye-catching almond-green facade. The first Slovenian-language theatrical performance took place here in 1919. Today, the national troupe is made up of 45 actors and actresses who perform a repertoire that is both classical and international. For the 2024 season, one of the most popular plays in French theater is in the spotlight: Cyrano de Bergerac. The main auditorium can accommodate up to 436 spectators.

This is the country's oldest casino, celebrating its 110th anniversary in 2023. Here you'll find all kinds of entertainment: hundreds of slot machines, bingo machines galore, and a wide variety of table games. There's a hushed atmosphere and a lively summer season, with popular events such as concerts, beauty contests and fashion shows. Many Italians make the trip here to try their luck at the jackpot.

A sober, chic little café offering daily à la carte breakfasts. Depending on the day's mood, you can order Slovenian-style eggs with ocvírki (small pork crackers), accompanied by a traditional Turkish coffee served in beautiful enamel tableware in local colors, made right here in Celje at the EMO factory. You'll be tempted by tasty bowls of granola with seasonal fruit or an assortment of cheeses and charcuterie from neighboring farms. We love this address for its authenticity and raw produce.

Matija and Irena, the young owners of the winery, do their best to impress each guest with their passion for viticulture and winemaking. They offer a two-hour experience in plain English to explain the different wines for tasting, all given in an alcove overlooking the vineyards. The dinner tray served is local, hearty and of high quality. You will learn more about the geography and history of the Vipava Valley. It is essential to call at least one hour in advance of your arrival.

Prulček is an alternative cultural venue located on the outskirts of central Ljubljana. Every week, a program of artists perform in concert, and admission is free to promote culture for all, although a voluntary and spontaneous contribution is greatly appreciated. A dozen draught beers are available, as is the house burger on Thursday evenings. It's the place to be in Ljubljana to join the locals and enjoy the nightlife. This terrace bar takes its name from the Karakter gin produced here in Bohinj. That said, it's the place to go for gin and tonics. It also serves local beers and a fine assortment of finger food , including chicken tenders, sweet potato fries and, above all, juicy burgers at very reasonable prices. The service is young, with a few students in summer, for a relaxed, no-fuss atmosphere. The lake is only a few meters away, and many acoustic concerts are organized on warm summer evenings.
