CAVE PTUJSKA KLET

Wine Cellar Wine House
4/5
1 review

Cellar visits in German or English with paid tastings of three to five wines are by appointment only. The whole is accompanied by a very poetic slide show of about twenty minutes in the glory of the vineyard. The largest cask in the cellar has a capacity of 22,115 l. These bowels are home to the oldest wine in the country, a "zlata trta" from 1917, whose bottle can be estimated at around €1,000. There's only ten bottles left. The complete visit with tasting and slide show lasts 2 hours. An exciting visit in the company of Franc.

MARCHÉ AUX PUCES

Market

This flea market is not to be missed for several reasons! First of all for its special atmosphere, between antique and vintage market. Then for the variety of antiques that can be found there: furniture, various knick-knacks, old posters, crockery, etc.. Finally, one hurries there to observe the sincerity of the "yougonostalgic" feeling which reminds us of Ljubljana's attachment to its Balkan past. You will be able to bring back stamps with the effigy of Tito or the former Yugoslav currency. A piece of advice: haggle for everything!

The master winemaker is an intellectual who lectures on viticulture at most of the country's universities.

SISTERS KURTOS

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream

Without moving from Slovenia, we discover here a Hungarian delicacy: the kürtőskalács, a strip of dough baked on a wooden spit that rotates slowly over a fire and then sprinkled with sugar; the latter caramelizes on the surface, creating a beautiful crust. It is then coated with almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, and filled with ice cream, jam or spread. It can be taken and enjoyed while strolling along the Ljubljanica River. Notice to the gourmets, it is an address not to be missed!

PEKARNA ANA

Bakery €€

The tiny bakery's opening hours can be seen on the front, officially from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., but unofficially to the last crumb . This bit of humor reflects the popularity of the place, as it's not uncommon for the shop assistants to have nothing left to sell before the clock strikes! Indeed, the bread and Viennese pastries of multi-starred chef Ana Roš are sold out at lightning speed. We fall for the puffed buckwheat chocolate petit-pain and the cream-filled cruffins , in keeping with seasonal flavors.
