A program of art and essay films and a cinema that has contributed to the discovery of many authors since 1996 thanks to retrospectives. Located near the station, it houses the young Slovenian film library. The existence of this cinema is older and dates back to the early 1960s. Films by authors, particularly French ones, are often given pride of place and - interestingly enough - all screenings are offered in their original version. The cinema hosts two major events: the LIFFE festival and the LGBT festival in November.

The palace was named after Slovenia's most illustrious writer, Ivan Cankar. It is now the country's major congress center. It hosts a wide range of cultural events, including trade fairs, concerts and exhibitions. The four main halls pay tribute to great Slovenian artistic personalities: the composer Gallus, the director Linhart and the poet Kosovel. In 2024, the 65th jazz festival will be held here over 3 days in July, as will the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra in June.

KINO ŠIŠKA

A very dynamic centre of urban culture, the Kino Siska attracts crowds during its musical programmes - Metronomy, Yann Tiersen -, its exhibitions, plays and film projections. This former cinema complex was transformed into an open stage by the municipality some ten years ago. The result is amazing with the promotion of many artistic projects, the creation of a contemporary art gallery to promote local artists. Its "Katedral" can accommodate nearly 1,000 spectators.

THÉÂTRE DE MARIONNETTES DE LJUBLJANA

A true historical institution: the puppet show has always seduced the Slovenian people. The role of Milan Klemenčič in the creation of this scene was absolutely essential. The beautiful building on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River therefore hosts puppet shows for children and adults. Several hundred performances are given each year. SNG DRAMA

This is Slovenia's national theater. Built in 1911, the building is recognizable by its Art Nouveau spirit and eye-catching almond-green facade. The first Slovenian-language theatrical performance took place here in 1919. Today, the national troupe is made up of 45 actors and actresses who perform a repertoire that is both classical and international. For the 2024 season, one of the most popular plays in French theater is in the spotlight: Cyrano de Bergerac. The main auditorium can accommodate up to 436 spectators.
