MUERBELSMILLEN

The exhibition is housed in the former Muerbelsmillen ("Mohrfels Mill") in Pfaffenthal and consists of several areas dealing with the themes of milling, food, crafts and water energy. The old mill technology and a large water wheel in the mill canal as well as the room where milling with gears and grinding wheels was once carried out are on display. The visit can end with a mustard-making workshop (by reservation). A place that captivates young and old alike.

TOY MUSEUM

Formerly located in the heart of Clervaux, in the basement of a hotel, the Toy Museum has moved and is now housed in the former barn on the Robbesscheier site. This private collection of 10,000 pieces allows visitors to rediscover the world of his childhood but also that of his parents and grandparents. DEPORTATION MEMORIAL (1940-1945)

During the Second World War, the Hollerich railway station was one of the main departure points for young people forcibly conscripted into the compulsory labour service (RAD), Jewish deportees and political deportees. PATTON MUSEUM

Inaugurated in 1995, this museum and a monument were erected in honour of General George Patton, commander of the US Third Army, who liberated Ettelbruck during the Second World War on 25 December 1944. Numerous photographs and documents document the German invasion in May 1940, the Nazi occupation, and the liberation by American troops. Numerous weapons and military equipment are on display. General Patton is buried in the American military cemetery of Luxembourg-Hamm, in the eastern suburbs of Luxembourg City.

ROBBESSCHEIER NATURE CENTRE

Founded in 1989 under the name "Domaine touristique du cheval de trait ardennais", the site has been called the Robbesscheier Nature Center since 2013. It covers more than 6 hectares and includes a discovery park, accommodation and a restaurant. The children discover, through several workshops, the Luxembourgish way of life of yesteryear such as the baking of bread or the work of the blacksmith. The domain also organizes bicycle, walking and carriage tours.

BATTLE OF THE BULGE MUSEUM

On 16 December 1944, under the command of General von Rundstedt, German troops attacked the American line along the Sûre and the Our. This bloody episode of the Second World War, which lasted two months and caused thousands of casualties, is called the Battle of the Bulge. This museum looks back on this historical period that led to the final liberation of Luxembourg from the occupier. It displays documents but also uniforms and weapons.

Housed in a former bourgeois house, the City History Museum reconstructs the interiors of the 18th and 19th centuries and the lives of the inhabitants of Vianden with the help of pictures, objects and musical installations. This museum, housed in the former A Schiewesch (Shepherd's) farmhouse, gives visitors a clear idea of peasant life in days gone by. The museum is the largest of its kind in the region. Adjacent to the museum, a 10-room luxury vacation home has recently been opened, complete with whirlpool bath and Finnish sauna.

JEAN DIEUDONNÉ CARD GAME MUSEUM

Jean Dieudonné, founder of a dynasty of cartiers in the region, was born around 1720 near Thionville. The Musée du Jeu de cartes reconstructs his workshop from the early 19th century, with the press as it was then working, as well as the stencils, clichés and other tools used to make the cards. The Romanesque chapel of Romanesque style, characterised by its square tower, was built in the th century. Imposing arches built with coloured sandstone (reddish brown) are built on massive pillars. Stone altars date from the early 1630 th century and the Renaissance Chair. The statue of the Virgin is one of the few remarkably well preserved wooden statues and dates back to the th century. A soothing place, which deserves a look at its peaceful atmosphere as well as its art wonders.

The Dudelange Municipal Museum houses a vast collection of precious historical objects: relief frescoes, coins, pottery and everyday objects. Most of them were found during archaeological excavations carried out on the Mont Saint-Jean, near the restored remains of the old castle. The museum also displays military fibulas and firearms, as well as historical and iconographic documents retracing the local history of the city's ironworks and the Luxembourg iron and steel industry.

EUGENE PESCH MUSEUM

The Eugène Pesch museum is located in the Depienne house on the former mine tile of the village Lasauvage. It presents the geological history of the region, in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History. With the help of the many minerals and fossils on display, the visitor will get an insight into the formation of rocks, the genesis of crystals and fossilization. In a second room, the mining tools collected by Eugène Pesch (1908-1991) allow visitors to discover life and work underground, through the reconstruction of a mining gallery.

RURAL AND HANDICRAFT MUSEUM

A real curiosity that this rural museum of Peppange, which has existed since 1999, located about ten kilometres from the capital and in the heart of the Terres Rouges! It exhibits through workshops, handicrafts, school life, medicine or even agricultural work and metal processing of yesteryear. All the agricultural machinery present has been restored and can be put into operation. The exhibition is an imitation of a medieval forge and a village forge in very good working order. SCHENGEN EUROPEAN MUSEUM

The European Museum was inaugurated in 2010. It is housed in the European Centre and occupies about 200 m². It is largely dedicated to the recent history of the creation of Europe and the signing of the Schengen agreements (1985 and 1990). LUXEMBOURG SCIENCE CENTER

Open since 2017, the Luxembourg Science Center is a fascinating place that encourages the discovery of science and technology in a fun and entertaining way. Nestled in Differdange, it offers an exceptional interactive experience for visitors of all ages. From the outside, the building may not look like much, but inside, there's a whole world of fun scientific experiments to try out and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of science (physics, electricity, magnetism, mathematics...). Nearly 100 interactive stations await the curious, enabling them to lift a car with just one hand, play table soccer with robots, watch astonishing demonstrations or even take part in scientific cooking workshops (access to workshops is only for 6 year olds and 8 year olds for the Show Cuisine).

Another of its projects is "Découverte des métiers", launched in 2019, which enables young people to discover, through hands-on experience, professions and skills linked to science, technology and the industry of the future. The aim is to bridge the gap between education and the professional world, preparing young people for careers in technology. In the same spirit, the Luxembourg Science Center makes resources available to teachers and educators via the ESERO project, co-developed with the European Space Agency (ESA). A family outing as fun as it is interesting, not to be missed.

MAISON DE LA CULTURE ET DE L'HISTOIRE A GADDER
