What will interest you the most here are obviously the horseback rides in the surroundings which last between 1 and 2 hours. If you want to go further, two tours of several days on horseback are offered by the center: "L'ecovia pelo rio Lima" lasting 5 days and 4 nights, and the "Serra d'Arga", a little more difficult, lasting 8 days and 7 nights. You will be accommodated along the route in rural tourism houses. Restaurant and bar in the riding center.

Sal offers several cruises on the coast of Arrábida, as well as group walking in exceptional sites (Sesimbra, Cabo Espichel on the dinosaur track…).

Several itineraries by bike or on foot have been set up to discover the rich diversity of the Ria of Aveiro and its surroundings. The whole has been named "Great Route of the Aveiro Lagoon":

The Blue Route, 130.8 km, runs along the coastline, through marshes and pine forests, and around the dunes.

The Golden Road, 234 km, mixes sea, valley, and passes by the Vouga ecopiste.

The Green Route, 194 km long, passes through the Vouga valley, vineyards, forest and the center of Aveiro.

This eco-trail for bikes, roller skates and scooters is the largest in Portugal. It runs along the Atlantic coast for 62 km, from Pombal to Obidos. You will have the choice to ride the whole route divided in several roads or to ride only a part of it. From north to south, you will safely cross maritime and forest landscapes. On your way: the beach of Osso da Baleia (departure from Pombal), the lagoon of Ervedeira, Marinha Grande, Alcobaça, Nazaré, Sao Martinho and finally the lagoon of Obidos. Sporty and rejuvenating at the same time!

Ecotourism activities in the Ria Formosa Natural Park: boat trips on the Ria Formosa, half-day or full-day kayaking trips, catamaran trips with a visit to Deserta Island and Farol Island, hiking, bird watching, bicycle rides. Bicycles, kayaks and boats can be rented. A whole panel to explore the Ria Formosa in an ecological way with (or without) a professional guide who will share with you his passion for the place and will accompany you in a beautiful Algarve adventure.

On the beautiful road that leads from Salir to Quérença, do not miss the classified site of Fonte Bénémola. Wear your best walking shoes and embark on a 4.5 km hike along the Menalva River, indicated by yellow and red rectangles. This route allows you to discover the beautiful fountain of Benemola, the vegetation around the river, old lime kilns and a typical craftsman of the region. A beautiful journey back in time. The loop can be combined with the Seven 9-kilometre fountains.

Two possible departures, from the village of Penina or Rocha da Pena. This hike is a loop around the limestone massif of Rocha da Pena, which rises to 472 m. Throughout this tour, you will observe the diversity of fauna and flora that characterize this region. The lucky ones will see rare species such as the Bonelli's eagle and plants such as St. John's wort and saw palmetto. At the top are two stone age walls that served as refuges for the Moors during the Christian reconquest of the kingdom.

A Spanish doctor with a passion for horseback riding organizes guided horseback rides in the region, along finely chosen themed routes. Routes last from an hour to a full day. With a great sense of humor, he speaks French with a Belgian accent. A real character, and for his company alone, it's worth it! The horses are beautiful and well cared for, and live in the meadows on site. As for the nature walks, they're more than a change of scenery. At the end of the tour, you'll be offered a small tasting of local wine or port.

This nice 5 kilometers loop connects the villages of Alamo, Guerreiros do Rio and Laranjeiras. The path gently rises to offer views of the Guadiana River and the hinterland. The walk can be combined with a visit to the Museum of the River and a lunch break in the brewery of Laranjeiras. It is also an opportunity to visit the ruins of Montinho das Laranjeiras. The site reveals several successive occupations of Romans and Visigoths and even some Islamic buyuts have been found.
