As its name suggests, it is the theater of the municipality. It was born in 1913 and has undergone several renovations and, more surprisingly, has changed location during the twentieth century. Isabel Alves Costa (deceased in 2009) was the first director of the theater with the name and location that we know today. The program includes theater, dance, classical concerts, circus shows and concert cafes. A rich variety of performing arts to cultivate. And good news: for most of the shows, you don't need to speak Portuguese.

A bar in a cosmopolitan, inspired setting, dating from the early ^19th century, decorated with colorful stained glass windows and a large Buddha who greets you with a namaste behind the waiters. Concerts and themed evenings are offered in this bar, which also doubles as a restaurant and nightclub at weekends. You can eat good sushi, have a drink or dance... or all 3! On weekends, it's often packed. A glamorous atmosphere where everyone mixes, whatever their age. LGBTQIA+ welcome. Sometimes there are drag-queen shows.

The sea air often whets the appetite! Perfectly located, Casa de Pasto da Palmeira is just a stone's throw from the Douro estuary. To start, the tapas menu features iodized products. Then you can choose from meat or fish dishes followed by a dessert. Everything is delicious, mixing tradition with modernity and at a reasonable price. The reception is pleasant and the staff will be able to advise you usefully.

Located opposite Faro Marina, on a pedestrian street, this brewery offers a wide variety of craft beers. As the name suggests, the traditional character of beer production goes hand in hand with conviviality. At the end of the afternoon, in a polyglot atmosphere, you can taste the different flavors of a craft beer, a far cry from those of industrial beers! Discover the Algarve's typical craft beer, "Marafada", made from sweet potatoes, with a sandwich or tapas if you're feeling a little hungry.

It is THE seaside bar, with its wooden counter, its entrance embellished by a street art fresco representing a wave (what could be more normal in Ericeira, one of the world's surfing capitals). It can be seen from a distance because it is located at the corner of a street. Atmosphere guaranteed in the evening, especially on weekends. You can choose from beers, cocktails and wines, including a fairly extensive gins list. If you like, there is even a small place to dance to the sound of the DJ set (sometimes the musical choices are not so great).

You won't come to this café-brasserie for the rather ordinary setting but to eat or drink at any time of the day since they prepare breakfasts, lunches, snacks or dinners very early in the morning until late at night. Everything is homemade from the starter to the dessert. Tapas of octopus in entrance, bacalhau con nata or still doce de casa are part of the inescapable. Juice of pressed oranges. Its central location makes it the meeting point of students and musicians of the university. Perfect for a break during the visits.

Located on the corner of a street with bay windows that give you a view of the lively neighborhood, this bar welcomes you in a slightly rustic, retro yet elegant atmosphere. The manager, Ugne Kris, comes to us straight from the Sem restaurant and wanted to do more than just another wine bar. As a result, the tapas menu has been carefully thought out, using fresh, local ingredients for the most part. The wine selection changes regularly, so there's no wine list, just shelves with bottles and prices underneath.

There are not many clubs in the area, so if you want to party all night long, you can go to the Minister, also known as the Miracorgo hotel's discotheque. The house specialty is the rather good cocktails to be tasted at the bar before or after having dabbled in the dancefloor for those who want to let off steam. Good atmosphere, rather heterogeneous, current music or with topic according to the evening and the mood of the DJ. The Portuguese do not generally arrive before midnight, it is necessary to come late to appreciate the sound which rises.

Do you know the bolacha? It is a traditional Portuguese cookie. It is from this that the name A Bolacheira is derived, to mean the container in which the bolachas are kept , but also the person who makes and markets them. Here, it is the greediness assured. In addition to these cookies, cupcakes, cookies, apple pie are served. Savory side: quiches, toasts, sandwiches, soups. The bread is homemade, the products are in season and the juices are natural. A good address for brunch or a snack.

A nice bar in La Foz that offers several activities for those who are looking for a little more than just sitting at a table. You can play pool, darts or chess, among other things. But Pico's Bar is not short on novelties. The service is good, the atmosphere pleasant and the drinks varied. For the small hungers, you will order petiscos to share, a small hamburger version of snack, or a francesinhas. Each one should find its place of predilection to spend a good evening.

Mirari was launched in 2023 and has proved a great success. It is located near LX Factory and offers various types of cultural and artistic events. Set in a disused and somewhat ruined factory, the space is open-air and divided into different zones. So it's in a post-industrial atmosphere that you can enjoy all the events organized, including the famous "Saturday afternoon matinees". The bar is complemented by street food stalls, some of which are run by Lisbon-based restaurants.

Aveiro's theater is one of the city's cultural venues, and it would be a shame to miss out on some of the shows. It's a small auditorium in which plays, dance and music take place, as well as film screenings, readings and everything else related to the artistic world. When you're in Aveiro, take a look at the program on the website, and you're sure to find something to suit your taste.

This is the location of the former Outubrus bar. The name has changed, but the concept remains similar. The space retains its terrace and rooftop, and also organizes concerts on weekends. Other events include karaoke and quiz nights. To drink, you'll find a selection of draught and bottled beers, from the national Sagres to craft beers like Musa. There's also wine and cocktails and, of course, plenty to eat, with charcuterie and cheese tables. Enough to liven up your nights in Setúbal.

Imagine yourself facing the ocean, enjoying a coffee and an ouriço (the famous local sweet), while watching people come and go along the waterfront. That's what you can do when you visit Casa da Fernanda, opposite the Praia dos Pescadores. This bar-café is one of Ericeira's institutions, and one of the places where you'll find the city's best ouriços. And if you like, you can opt for a box of six to take away and eat them directly on the beach, a little further down the road.

When the five bartenders decided to open their Brooklyn-inspired bar, the concept was unknown in Lisbon. Today, buoyed by their success, they've even opened a second location. Of course, the mix of cocktails and oysters can be surprising. That said, it seems to work very well with their signature cocktails, named after typographies such as Futura, Avenir or Didot. Their oysters are high quality and come from a supplier near Setùbal.

A little gem located in a less touristy area, not far from Alcântara Terra station. They claim to be the biggest rooftop in Lisbon. Unfortunately, we weren't able to verify this by comparing it to all the others. In any case, you can enjoy a brunch, a drink or even a dance, as the place transforms into a club at weekends. There's even a store with a fine selection of brands (although we regret that it's not all Portuguese designers). On their website, you can find out about all the other activities they offer.

The little brother of the bar of the same name in Lisbon, this bar offers natural wines, i.e. with no additives added during vinification. It's a lovely, bright space on a cobbled street. The wine list changes every two weeks, and you can drink by the glass or by the bottle. To accompany your choice of drink, try the tapas and dishes, such as grilled peppers and sandwiches with the famous pastrami, made by chef Iliya. It opened in summer 2023 and is the first bar in Cascais to feature natural wines.

Beer lovers will be delighted by the existence of this bar, located on the border of Baixa and Alfama. You'll find no less than 15 beers on draught, as well as a choice of 300 bottled and canned beers, both locally made and not. The venue regularly invites chefs to come and cook at weekends, so it can offer a variety of dishes on its menu. They also organize tasting sessions. Created by the same people as Vino Vero, located a few numbers down, this wine bar has become a must on Graça hill. As soon as it opens, you sit down at the counter and order food and drink. Bacaro is the Venetians' name for osterias, so you'll find some excellent Italian cured meats to accompany your glasses of wine. There's also an emphasis on finger food , with pinsas and focaccias. As for the wines, they are all natural and come from various Mediterranean countries.

It's thanks to Cupid, featured on the illuminated sign at the bar's entrance, that we know it's there. We enter and discover a small room with subdued lighting and a bar with a beautiful terrazzo counter. Dare we say it's all done with love? You might think so as you sample the delicious foccacias and signature cocktails. The bar's decor is inspired by Milan's bars of the 1980s. You may be lucky enough to find the Mille made with Campari, clementine juice and Cape Verde brandy on the menu.

Originally created by Benvindo Ceia, this iconic café with its distinctive yellow façade and red sign has been a must-visit since 1936. One door, two large bay windows on either side, inside marble tables and skai benches. The furniture is tired, the walls decrepit, but any modernization would be sacrilegious, the place has so much cachet. To munch a pastel de nata and sip a coffee while pretending to understand what you're reading in today's newspaper... An establishment full of character, a veritable cinema set.

With such a terrace that offers a very beautiful panorama from the heights of the village overlooking the sea, it is very pleasant to come and have a drink at the end of the day at Esplanada do mar. For those who have not taken the time to dine in one of the good restaurants in the centre, the house offers snacks and hamburgers, served simply but in good taste. Also very appreciated are the 100% natural fruit juices to be taken in the morning. The bar comes alive at the end of the week with a rather touristic population.

This place is magical but the entrance is hard to find: you have to go through the open door to a staircase on the^second floor. The Mercado Negro is a large historic house transformed into an art center, second hand bookstore, and bar. The program is rich in exhibitions, young designers' stores, DJ sets and live concerts every week, with a funk, soul and rock atmosphere. Great period decor with chandeliers, old leather sofas and 1970s tapestries. Pool table. This is a must for the youth of the city.

Two rooms for this trendy establishment: on one side a cosy café with yellow and orange colors where you can have a snack and sit outside; on the other side a bar-discotheque, where purple predominates, with good cocktails to party late while listening to nice songs. Clientele of all ages, mostly locals. Great meetings. The opening hours are very long, people come for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, dancing...

If you're looking to see a play (sometimes without many words), a dance performance or a film in its original version with subtitles (very practical for Portuguese speakers, or those wishing to improve their skills), then take a look at the program on the website. This is the address for aficionados of natural wines, a trend that is really starting to take off in Lisbon. Santos is one of the neighborhoods favored by this type of establishment. Here, you can feel the "Gallic" touch, with rillettes on the tapas menu. To compete, you'll also find oysters straight from Setùbal. You can sit back and relax on the terrace, which boasts seating reminiscent of the Jardin du Luxembourg. Rest assured, the wines are Portuguese!

Uni offers a unique mixology experience. Its name reflects the desire of its owner, Constança Cordeiro, to extract the aromas from each ingredient and combine them to create a new, one-of-a-kind flavor. Also behind the Toca da Raposa bar in Chiado, she explains that from her experience there she learned to extract 80 ingredients, which can be found on the menu. Uni's decor is equally surprising: white, minimalist, so as not to interfere with cocktail enjoyment...

The Ler Devagar bookshop has been delighting tourists for years at LX Factory, and now we'll be able to find it again in the heart of Lisbon with the Casa do Comum cultural space. The booksellers have chosen to set up shop in Bairro Alto, on the same street as the theater. This was an old dream of the owner, José Pinho, who died in May 2023. The space comprises a bookshop, library, concert hall and projection room. Of course, there's also a bar area. All events are announced on social networks.

AMO stands for the initials of the brewery's creator: Margaret Orlowski. She arrived from Canada, where she had learned the brewing trade. After making microlots for friends for a few years, she decided to launch herself for good in 2016. It's one of the first craft beers in Lisbon, back when nobody was really interested in it here. Today, AMO beers can be found just about everywhere, but in the brewery, you'll have access to more choice and be able to chat with the people who work there.

If you'd like to discover Fado in a way other than at a dinner party, here's something that might interest you. The venue is right in the center, in the Baixa district. The show begins with an introduction to the history of Fado, with a short projection and, of course, Amalia Rodrigues. Then two different singers take to the stage. You can then let yourself be transported to the Lisbon of another era. A nice little extra: a glass of port served at the beginning to get you in the mood.

A French couple who have lived in Lisbon for several years decided to open this wine bar. Their aim is to select top-quality Portuguese wines from all regions, which are not necessarily well known, and to help you make some wonderful discoveries. In a beautiful room with a vaulted ceiling, you can taste the wines by the glass or by the bottle, and accompany them with tapas or charcuterie. Their must: roast Camembert. If you need any advice, the couple will be delighted to help.

Beer lovers, this is the place to come for draught Belgian beers or to discover the many bottled beers from all over the world. The Gulden Draak Bierhuis, well established in the center of Porto but a little isolated (you'll notice it by its red awning), invites you to try blondes, browns and fruity beers with varying degrees of alcohol content. A very ambitious concept has taken shape within the Le Consulat hotel. Rove is a bar, restaurant, brunch spot, surf store and art gallery all rolled into one. Comfortably seated on the second floor of the building, with a bird's-eye view of Camões Square, you can enjoy the panoramic view. The bar specializes in cocktails, but also offers craft beers and wines from local vineyards. The atmosphere is similar to that of speakeasy bars, so it's very cozy and underground.

This little bar in an alleyway running parallel to the Lagos quays on the city side will appeal to anyone looking for a fun bar night out. The front alone speaks for itself, with its stickers and messages. The evening's program is announced on the door, and it's karaoke that's undoubtedly in vogue. Some may not be happy with the music catalog, but you should have a good time. The atmosphere warms up after 11pm and drinks are served with a smile. A good place to meet people in Lagos.

If you're looking for a place to take a break after your visit to Corté Inglès, head to Solo Brewing for a good cup of coffee. You can treat yourself to a Belgian-style waffle, either savory or sweet, something you can't really find in Lisbon. Otherwise, there are more classic options like bagels or tostas. The coffee menu is ultra-complete, with several original options that change regularly. The decor is refined and elegant, with terracotta-colored walls throughout.

What better way to spend an afternoon at the beach than with a drink facing the ocean? There are several options on Tamariz beach, and one of them is the Sun and Drink Lounge kiosk. Slightly off the beach, you'll have an unobstructed view to enjoy your glass of sangria or whatever while watching the strollers and joggers. There's also a menu with sandwiches, tostas, salads, burgers and main courses if you're feeling peckish or want to have lunch on the spot.

Nestled inside the same space as the famous Gleba bakery, it may be difficult to choose between the two. That said, if you want to eat in, then Milkees is your only option. A wide choice of coffee-based beverages, as that's its specialty. What's more, she works with local roasters like Roastberry. Good pastries (and not just cookies) and lunch options like soup, tostas, etc. What better way to grab a coffee to go before exploring the city?

Located right in the heart of Baixa, it's a great option for brunching with its ultra-appetizing pancakes. This coffee shop also works with good products, since it uses specialty coffee, i.e. artisanal coffee. For those who prefer other beverages, there's plenty to choose from: quality tea, natural wines, signature mocktails and the classic matcha latte or hot chocolate. Their success has led them to open in other districts such as Alfama.

This space, in the heart of the Alfama district, offers a brunch of traditional Portuguese products until 3pm, hence the name mata-bicho (a popular word for Portuguese brunch). In the dining room or on the terrace, in an inner courtyard secluded from the hustle and bustle of the street, you can take a break and then continue your tour of the city. You can choose between a classic breakfast or one that's more hearty and typical: tosta mista, beefsteak in a bolo do Caco sandwich (Madeira Island bread) or French fries, a plate with products from the Alentejo region, salad, sweets...

You will probably be intrigued by the bistro chairs and tables on the terrace. Would you have come back to France during the night? But no, you are still in Lisbon and this café does not offer much French food except maybe croissants. One of the specialities is the empanadas cooked in a wood oven, delicious with a cocktail of your choice. During the day you also have several options for brunch like bowls or the very good banana bread. At night, the atmosphere is festive and the bar is often full.
