The most beautiful natural sites to discover Spain

Located about 1 km from Sallent, following the Sequià road, this perfectly observable fault, which overhangs the railway line at the La Botjosa potash mines, results from a fracture of the earth's crust associated with the action of compression forces. This is a good example of an inverse fault with a complex structure. The presence of gypsum in the area, once exploited in precarious galleries, gave its name to the structure.

This geological concretion with a French nickname is one of the geological curiosities of the Geopark. It can be found just before reaching the natural site of the Manresans lock, hung on the castle hill on the right bank of the Llobregat River. In addition to erosion caused by meteorological phenomena, the action of the river dynamics of the Llobregat and the forces it exerts on the outer part of the meander have caused the accumulation of sediments at the base of the hill and favoured the appearance of a mass of rocks sculpted by erosion.

North of Balsareny, at the foot of the castle hill, the Manresans lock diverts part of the Llobregat river to create the medieval Sequia canal. The site is surrounded by a lush grove with a rich ecosystem typical of the groves that cover the river landscapes of the heart of Catalonia. The water-intensive plant species that have developed there have adapted to the floodplain with its particularly nutrient-rich soil. Black alders, white willows, poplars and southern ash trees are among the most represented trees. The abundance of fruits and flowers in the area serve as a pantry for many birds such as nightingales and green woodpeckers.

On the tip of Uztrikotzek you can see the ruins of the fort of Azkorriaga, built in xviii^e century to protect the bay. It is called by the inhabitants El Castillito roto (the broken petit château).

Located in an ancient house typical of the Huerta region, this family association allows groups to discover this orchard through its fauna and flora but also the practices of the farmers via a small archaeological museum or proposals for circuits, to be done on foot or in carriage. At the discovery menu, you will be able to browse the old paths of farming, the old irrigation canals or discover the name and stories of the old farms (plana) or the remains of the Via Augusta, the ancient Roman track linking Valencia and Sagunto. Finally, you can enjoy typical Huerta products as this area includes a large restaurant. 

This natural park is like a mini Doñana, with pine forests, marshes and indigenous flora. More than 90 species of birds and at least 50 types of fish and mammals live there. Apart from train circuits, different activities (from 3 €) can take place on the spot: kayaking, mountain biking, sailing… At La Casa de Los Torunos, you can find documentation, a library, a shop and a bicycle rental service.

Along the ría de Plentzia, you will come to the mouth is formed a beautiful natural bay surrounded by the beach of Gorliz. After the beach, a small path leads to the lighthouse and the petrified dunes, site of great ecological interest.

The beach of Punta is accessible by car: bring good half-hour drive, not forgetting the traffic jams. In summer, it is almost annexed by Santanderinos (accessible in 15 minutes by boat). There are also boats for Somo, a town of holiday that has its beach, and for its Pedreña neighbour, famous for its very select golf Course, which made its first putts.

Beautiful Playa de Aguilar, supervised in summer, wild in winter, is closest to Cudillero (3 km). Avoid the high tide because the sand is then covered!

By leaving Barcelona, you arrive very quickly on the beaches frequented by the Barcelona on weekends. Each has its own interest, its particularity. First, Gavá, known as "La Pineda", with its dunes and pine forests. Then Castelldefels, and its large stretches of sand, 5 km, frequented by athletes, fans of wind, windsurfing, surfing and other kites. Both locations are contiguous and connected by a dike for roller or bicycle lovers, who end in Port Ginesta. Through the coastal road, you arrive at the small beach of Garraf, a small bay lined with white and green huts. Very quiet with a terrace restaurant, Garraf Chiringuito: first terrace, tapas; Second terrace, restaurant with specialities from the sea, where it is good to drag away from the parasols with a view of a beautiful sea, a relaxing holiday atmosphere. At the entrance to Sitges, Marina, a small beach and a small harbour with a tropézienne atmosphere with its restaurants and terraces giving directly onto the harbour. In Sitges, the beaches of Balmins and Sant Pedroche are the quietest and the most family-friendly. Fine sand and gentle slope to enter the water, the sea is often hot, thanks to its low depth.

It is advisable to go out of the summer to enjoy this charming island, still preserved from the concrete on its half-west half where the wild coastline is splendid. It cannot be said that this is the paradise of naturism: You have to run out of Its Salines With Beach, which is loud, noisy and very «fashion» except at its end where you find quieter coves, or that of Es Cavallet frequented by Gays. We can find isolated coves by walking a little and then there is the official beach of Aiguas Blancas to the northeast of the island, succession of coves at the foot of cliffs, sheltered from the wind: paradise. Also the cala d'En Serra nearby. In short, as soon as we leave urbanized centres in the south-east, there is a preserved coastline to discover.

A large beach with dunes, that of Gandia, where by exiting from the settlement, you can practise naturism. Otherwise the coves of the Cabo de la Nao, wild point towards Denia.

Nearly 17 km east of Motril by the A-7 and then the N-340, you can reach this beach which has a small car park on the road. Then access will be on foot, following a steep terrain. But you will be rewarded for your efforts by arriving on a small isolated cove, dominated by its watchtower. Not a construction, it will be sand for 250 meters.

The Bosc Terapèutic Vidrà is a natural site located in the town of Vidrà. It offers therapeutic forest baths to help you recharge your batteries in the heart of nature. Vidrà is located in the north of the Osona region, about 1h30 from Barcelona by car. To get there without a car, you can take the train to Saint Quirze de Besora, then take a cab to Vidrà.

If you decide to head for the famous Cala Macarella, chances are you'll come across the Torralba vineyards along the way. Perhaps the youngest estate on the island, Torralba has been cultivating a characterful wine for just a few years now, and the future looks bright. For the moment, you can taste two products: a full-bodied red and a light, more mineral rosé. Guided tours are also available to learn more about the secrets of winemaking.

As you head south from Ciutadella, you'll find the path on the left that leads to the Binitord winery. Launched by Bernadette, Joan, Toni and Sisca in 2002, the winery produced its first bottles in 2007. Today, it boasts 9.5 hectares of red and white vines grown according to sustainable principles. 30,000 bottles of wine (some award-winning) are produced every year. A visit is recommended, both for the warm welcome we receive and to discover the site and its fine products.
