Can Paco has something of the romance of Spain from another time. One usually pushes the door when the sun is at its zenith and the burning streets are deserted, to discover a nice cheeky atmosphere provided by the locals happily feasting. It is first of all for the setting that you will choose this restaurant: located on the heights of Orio, it offers a privileged panorama of the ocean. Its rustic interior, where stone and wood are mixed, is quite charming. Under a sturdy frame, you can enjoy an excellent traditional cuisine. One of the restaurant's specialities is chuletón (rib of beef) à la parilla. The menu also offers a wide variety of top-quality fish and seafood.

It stands in front of the slopes and is a must in Masella: you come to this chalet-style resto-bar for breakfast, lunch, a coffee break and/or a fiesta in the evening. On the menu: tapas, salads, entrepans (small sandwiches), and hamburgers - beef or chicken - generous (so generous that finishing it is a challenge). The portions are generous, the staff very friendly, and the evenings - sometimes with live music - can be quite crazy, gin and tonic. A good place to relax.

Good table managed by Patxi and Alejandra, a young couple from Laguardia. In a rather classic decor, they taste traditional recipes that have been brought up to date with talent. Situated on the outskirts of the city, the restaurant offers beautiful views of the vineyards and the Sierra de Cantabria. Some suggestions to whet your appetite: goat's cheese gratin with apple-grape compote or cod carpaccio with aioli sauce as a starter; grouper pil-pil, grilled beef steak or roast lamb as a main course... and surprise for dessert!

Asador Maria Morena is a pastel-coloured restaurant, which offers a few terraced tables and a panoramic view of the superb Cuenca valley. This is the promise of a good time at lunch or dinner in this beautiful establishment perched at the very top of the city. We particularly appreciated the bluefin tuna tataki as a starter, goat and fruit salad or rice with shrimp and garlic in the food section. The welcome can be a little fast in high season, but the price-quality ratio is quite good.

After climbing the steep slopes leading to the volcano, you will be delighted to enter this small restaurant at the summit. And which is a magnificent viewpoint for the surrounding landscapes: Olot and the Vallée d'en Bas, whether inside, through the bay windows or on its terrace. You can eat there from breakfast or crackle on a plate of tapas accompanying a local vermouth. Recommended.
