The Netherlands commemorates its dead every year on the evening of May 4. The national craze around this event is great. Namely, at 8 pm, the whole country observes 2 minutes of silence. Streetcars stop, cafes and restaurants are silent, sports competitions are also interrupted to respect this silence. The highlight of this commemoration takes place on the Dam Square in Amsterdam, where the king lays a wreath and gives a speech.
