In winter, when the lights shine on the snow-covered promenade, it's a real Christmas tale. The summer terrace always draws crowds. See the impressive collection of paintings on the walls. If the decor is bewitching, there's no disappointment on the plate. One of the most gourmet and renowned restaurants in the Finnish capital, proud of its Michelin star obtained in 2011. On the plates, a refined style highlighting fresh, local products that vary with the seasons, such as hiramasa, the Japanese name for amberjack, and its wasabi, langoustine accompanied by butternut, or duck with raspberries... Before discovering the dessert menu, superb. The menu changes with each season and may be accompanied by the sommelier's recommendations for the wine. Expensive, but divine.

A Sri Lankan specialty restaurant in Naantali? Some would say it's a crazy idea, given the richness of the local gastronomic heritage. And yet, the Red Lobster has managed to make a name for itself and a loyal clientele since it opened. It has to be said that, with the quality of its cuisine and the (welcome) revival of its spicy dishes, the gamble paid off! At lunchtime, for example, there's a very hearty €11 menu (with main course, salad, rice, naan and coffee). A great place to take your mind off things!

Turku's best pizza? Perhaps. The best names for said pizzas, inspired by the English royal family? Definitely. And the best atmosphere in a large radius? Definitely! Far from being just a pizzeria, Cup and Pint is more of a bar-bistro where people like to get together to share a (delicious) pizza, have a drink or enjoy one of the many entertainments offered by the bosses. Be warned: the place fills up very quickly, and service can be a tad long (but that's part of the charm of the place)!

To take advantage of the Gulf of Finland, view and sun, if you are lucky, go to Kauppatori (the market) and picnic on the port or steps of the place of the Senate nearby. Offering a subtly spicy cuisine that gently awakens the palate, this good little address is mostly frequented by locals, proof of a deservedly effective word-of-mouth. The portions are absolutely gigantic and the service is charming.

Weeruksa has been there since 1984 and is a good little address that will please everyone. Between large salads, pizzas and other hearty plates of homemade burgers or meatballs, there's plenty to choose from. With vegetarian, gluten-free or lactose-free options. Smiling and efficient service and very good value for money. The restaurant room, in the style of American-style dinners, is pleasant, has a children's play corner and the pub is in its extension with a selection of Finnish beers

For fans of Finnish history and the national hero Mannerheim, this place is a must! Arrival begins with a visit to the log-built hunting lodge, originally built in Eastern Karelia. Eating at Marksin Maja means total immersion in Finnish traditions and military rules. You'll earn your meal after a lengthy introduction to Mannerheim's special table rules, such as not getting up from the table before coffee, or not drinking without the chef's permission.

Opened in January 2017, this restaurant has quickly become a favorite among locals. The bread is baked on the spot, the buffet different every day and the dessert comes with coffee or tea. In an imposing century-old house, you will find a charming and very warm couple who welcome you in a simple and delicious restaurant on the ground floor. It is a historic house that was bombed during the Winter War by the Soviets in 1940. On the kitchen side, all the dishes are homemade, according to grandmother's recipe, with starter and dessert. The food is excellent, the welcome is perfect with a very good quality/price ratio.

We fell in love with this high quality address. In a bohemian and intimate setting, the simple but original cuisine combines European recipes (Russian pelmeni with chanterelles in beetroot broth, French-style artichokes, black pudding with apples, mussels...) with perfectly selected natural and organic wines. The service is competent and pleasant. Don't skip the bread and butter, they're to die for. This discreet and unobtrusive sign is ideal for taking your new conquest along as well as for dinner with friends.

Chalupa has brought Mexico to Helsinki. This colorful cantina, which is part of a small local chain, serves tacos and burritos that are (almost) as good as in Los Angeles, but with a Nordic twist - a faint scent of cinnamon seems to waft over the fillings... Special mention must go to the carnitas tacos, very melt-in-your-mouth! Or the chicken and avocado quesadillas! A good option for an inexpensive lunch or dinner before going out for beers in one of the many trendy bars in the area. Bonus: good service and a great atmosphere.

Vinkkeli, which opened in 2016, is so successful that you will not be able to have lunch or dinner there without booking your table. In a setting of modern and refined elegance, a clientele of business people and chic retirees come to taste this exquisite Finnish-inspired cuisine. The creamy soup with smoked celery is a success, the roast beef is tender and perfectly matched with a chickpea ratatouille with oriental flavours. The Finno-French-inspired desserts are also impeccable and the service is of the highest standard, as it should be.

It is a charming neighbourhood pizzeria with a cosy and trendy atmosphere that you will find here. Between the walls painted in different colours and on the comfortable benches, you can enjoy excellent pizzas with fine and crispy dough. Vegetarians, vegans and those with a gluten-free diet will also find their happiness, some pizzas are dedicated to them. On the spot, it is rather a local and bohemian clientele with a trendy music. You can also just come and have a drink, to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in the evening.

Richard McCormick is one of the chefs who make up Helsinki's contemporary gastronomic scene. While the hype surrounding The Cock's reputation always attracts a packed crowd, on the plate, the results often live up to expectations, with products that are fresh and combinations that are sometimes original. The service is charming, which helps us forget the ambient hubbub. You can also simply sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail! Warning: this is a divisive address, which you can love as much as hate.

If you're looking for a really nice place to eat, right next to the harbor and the château, look no further than the Mr. Gren bar. In a beautifully decorated room (or on the terrace - with blankets if you need them), you'll be able to enjoy simple but beautifully prepared dishes with a strong Nordic flavour. A good twenty kilometers north of Marienhamn, this is an address you need to know to go there (but saves many people, including hungry cyclists). Here, you can enjoy pastries, but also (and above all) tasty pizzas, cooked by the family in the back room. The decor is as old-fashioned as it is charming - you'd almost think you were in a London tearoom. Locals flock here as connoisseurs, and the crowd is divided between the dining room and the huge terrace. An ideal stopover during a day's travel!

Sushi on the Åland Islands? Yes, but not just any sushi! At Marie's, we're talking about sushi made by a couple of young local restaurateurs, who decided to appropriate Japanese culinary codes by seasoning them with Finnish touches. The result, simply delicious and quirky, is enjoyed on the plate, after preparation right before your eyes (and with obviously fresh produce). You'll also find delicious, flavorful poke bowls. A surprising address, but well worth a visit!

In a beautiful dining room with comfortable banquettes, the Kallas Stadskrog offers refined, delicate cuisine, with an emphasis on Northern European flavors and, of course, seafood. In keeping with the seasons, the chef chooses to cook Baltic salmon, fresh catches of the day and succulent mussels marinière. There are also house specialties which, in summer, revolve around shrimp! An address with attentive, smiling service that makes for a wonderful evening!

There aren't many places to eat (well) along route no. 3 from Mariehamn to Lumparland, so when you come across Little Bangkok, you might as well make the most of it (especially on a Sunday lunchtime). No Finnish or Nordic food here, but real Asian dishes, organized à la carte or - the most interesting formula - as an all-you-can-eat buffet. Chicken, pork and fish are deliciously seasoned and served with rice (Cantonese or plain). A fine assortment of sauces is available, and coffee is included in the price.

In an old house full of charm, this restaurant serves good pizzas and proposes a menu of meats and fish. This is a good address to sit down to a meal when you are in Kemi, especially as the welcome is rather pleasant. We go there as much for the varied menu as for the place, in the middle of the park and very close to the shore, rather unusual for a pizzeria! Be careful, the site is entirely in Finnish, for a little English, see "Pizzalista".

Ideally located between Piazza del Mercato and Piazza del Senatore, Via Tribunali offers quality pizzas at a relatively reasonable price for such a location. With the "Neapolitan Pizza" label, you can be sure of a good meal, with no unpleasant surprises. On the menu are classics such as the Margherita or the Marinara, as well as spicier ones like the Diavola (with its spicy ndjuja). It's also possible to order gluten-free pasta (for an additional charge). In short, a place where you can simply enjoy a good pizza!

Right across from the train station, a tiny restaurant that locals consider to be the best Thai in town (and even in the region). Whether you choose to eat in (with seating for 5 indoors, but large tables on the terrace, ideal for sunny days) or take away, it's up to you to understand why Thaï in Town is worth a visit! The menu features some fifteen different (and tasty!) dishes, ranging from the subtly spicy to the downright fiery. A warmly recommended delight, whatever the season.

Just before the bridge leading to the Suomenlinna Museum, there's a path leading to the yacht harbour. Directly opposite is the wonderful Valimo café, a haven of peace where you can feel at home: a large room with a log fire, sofas for children and friendly service. Depending on the season, the menu includes chanterelle pasta, fish, cakes and live music. It's easy to see why local families flock here as much as visiting tourists!

Along an illuminated passageway, as if at the foot of a tower, lies an intimate, almost minimalist address that's hard to believe is a restaurant. And yet, what a wonderful address this Nokka restaurant is, where products come in ultra-short circuits and dishes come very close to haute gastronomy! Menus change regularly, but every dish delivers on the promise of freshness and delicacy, whether it's reindeer, fish, sunflower seeds or crab stew. In short, a marvel!

On the site of the former Teurastamo slaughterhouse, now a lively place teeming with activities (brasserie, coffee roaster, open stage...), you'll find this Mexican restaurant where people flock for lunch! In a pleasant setting with a large terrace, smiling, efficient service and typical Mexican dishes: tacos, enchiladas and tamales, with a Finnish twist. A big bonus to the relaxed atmosphere is that starters, desserts and coffee are included in the price. An address to keep on your side for a good time!

This restaurant was voted the best restaurant in Finland! Here we are dealing with a real gastro with incredible flavours; every dish explodes in the mouth! All the ingredients come from Finland and most of them from around Tampere. In winter, they preserve the ingredients using only natural and ancestral processes that have the merit of preserving the flavours and colours. We recommend that you take the option with the wines, which are meticulously selected to best match the different dishes.

A large choice of good thick pancakes, sweet or savoury: spinach, pistou, chicken, three cheeses... On the sweet side, there is also a choice of classic spreads, sugar, banana, caramel... And also excellent choices of hot drinks. We dare you to finish your cake because it's so copious; you can bring the rest with you! The welcome is good and the decoration, a bit kitsch with a reproduction of the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling is astonishing, but we are delighted! Reservation is highly recommended.

Petronella refers to the intrepid woman journalist and adventurer known for her participation in the 1949 gold rush to the region. In 1989, Saara Mehtäjärvi created this restaurant that pays homage to her by offering a cuisine that highlights Scandinavian products by the fire. The dishes are superb and delicious: both the cep soup and the fish of the day. For the sweet side, the mille-feuille and the chocolate fondant are exquisite. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and one spends a pleasant evening there.

A little out of the center of town (but very accessible, like all of Helsinki), Kiku86 seems to have become the reference address in the capital for those who simply love sushi! There are no unpleasant surprises here: everything is made with the freshest fish, and the ritual know-how is reflected in the plate. The menu offers beautiful makis and bowls that are a little less traditional, but just as nourishing.
