Finland's most popular cultural event! Launched in 1912 by singer Aino Ackté, the festival presents operas in the castle's main courtyard, with its remarkable acoustics. Spread over an entire month, the program generally delights music lovers, and the great works are not served by the open air. An enchanting backdrop for the crowds strolling through the town's stores and workshops. Reservations highly recommended, given the crowds.

This same festival - Marianpäiva - has been celebrated since the ^14th century, and was originally intended for baptisms, communions, weddings and funerals. In those days, the Annunciation had a strong symbolic significance. The religious character of this gathering has faded, but the Sami from Finland, Norway and Sweden continue to gather. On the program: craft exhibitions, concerts of Sami songs(joiku), reindeer races and lassos throwing.

It is the students' day, which coincides with Labour Day. The whole country takes part in the festivities planned in the streets. The student festivities begin in the evening and do not end until the next day after lunch. The students put on their white caps. In Helsinki, they celebrate in the Market Square by putting their caps on the famous Havis Amanda (Baltic Girl) statue. Inhibitions are forgotten, alcohol is flowing freely. The restaurants are packed and the party goes on in the streets.

This rally brings together the world's best drivers in extreme conditions. In 2023, it was already the ^58th edition! For two days, cars and drivers battle it out on the snow-covered roads of Rovaniemi. On the dedicated website, you can find all the information you need about the route taken by the teams, as well as the approximate times at which they will be expected. As for the competitors, there are several categories, including one reserved for foreign drivers: amateurs beware!

A free event offered to all children by the City of Helsinki, this Christmas trail, lined here and there with various activities and songs, plays and story readings, gives a foretaste of Christmas to delighted children, who can also warm up with Christmas porridges and sweaters distributed along the way, before meeting Father and Mother Christmas! And in the surrounding area, you can also enjoy the Christmas market set up.
