You will cook your own steak (of excellent quality) on a lava stone placed in front of you! A great experience for the whole family. The meats are served with three very good sauces, chips and salad. Good desserts too. Not to spoil anything, you will be welcomed with a smile. The only drawback? No wine by the glass, nor in half-bottles: bottle obligatory (17 €)

With its damaged sign and its simple snack bar look, nothing lets you imagine the restaurant that is hidden on the second floor. It's a well-kept secret for the locals who flock there at lunchtime to taste Renata's excellent buffet lunch. In the evening it's à la carte, with braised tuna, the house specialty. Especially known for its takeaway dishes, and rather for its meats. They are perfectly cooked on the barbecue and served with delicious sweet potatoes, among other things. For fish lovers, there are also some à la carte. The restaurant's dishes are honest and the prices are relatively low. The shares are always generous and the products are of high quality. The room is rather modern and the waiters and waitresses are very pleasant. The choice of wines is also impeccable, as are the desserts. From the beginning to the end of the meal you should be satisfied!

This small and pleasant room (with also some tables on the terrace when the weather is nice) offers excellent tapas and small snacks to nibble on. It's a good opportunity to choose a little of everything on the menu and to taste many local specialties. An excellent choice of wines and craft beers too.

The Albergaria is the restaurant of the 4 star hotel Cruzeiro and proposes snacks as well as more elaborate and particularly well presented dishes. An address not very exotic but where you can eat well.

Notice to food lovers! This large room with the look of a well-dressed canteen is a godsend for enjoying the island's gastronomic treasures. Opened in 2018 by the Agricultural Association of the Island of Terceira (AAIT), it is the perfect spot to taste the island's excellent meat. A beef in particular, offered in many forms (alcatra, biftek, Picanha, burgers ...). There is also a very nice wine list with labels from mainland Portugal, but also and especially from Biscoitos (Terceira) and Pico.

A few wooden tables outside, a simple but nice decoration inside and an honest traditional kitchen, for very reasonable prices. You can choose from chicken soup, octopus salad or the excellent local cheese. As almost everywhere in the Azores, the portions are more than generous. Lunch is an all-you-can-eat buffet (we've just told you, generosity is the order of the day!) for an unbeatable price. The boss is adorable and the service is fast and friendly. In front of the square of the São Jorge church. Good cuisine and attentive service. A very popular address for locals. It's quite simple, but the quality and quantities are there. For a change, if it is à la carte, we recommend the delicious Brazilian picanha dish (grilled beef). You can also try the pineapple and cheese pizza from São Jorge. The terrace is pleasant. The room is like the kitchen, simple! The wait to be served to be a little long. For a lunch break, this place is fine.

Just above the popular Porto Martins swimming area, with a beautiful view of the ocean, Búzius delights locals and visiting tourists alike with a menu that is naturally oriented towards seafood. In particular, they have excellent seafood offerings. The tagliatelle with squid is very good. A good option south of Praia da Vitória during or after a lazy day

Roberto's tavern is simply one of the best restaurants in the capital, and even on the island, and its reputation has spread far beyond the borders of Terceira. We come here to enjoy excellent meat dishes or some fish, but we won't reveal anything to you, because the menu changes very regularly, according to the arrivals and the seasons. One thing is sure, you will enjoy yourself, after having chosen your piece of meat in the kitchen installed behind a bay window! And the choice is immense, with bottles and cases of wine adorning the walls of the establishment. As a fine connoisseur, Roberto, whose welcome is always very warm, will skilfully direct you to the right bottle. Reservations are required, as Roberto cooks on demand. A unique and authentic place that will undoubtedly offer you a memorable evening.

If the price is largely due to the magnificent setting of the fort of Santa Cruz and its view of the harbour drawn through the ramparts, the kitchen is nevertheless honest and regional specialities will be offered to you.

The setting is that of a restored old farmhouse. Everything is there: cow wood cutlery, sandstone plates, olive oil lamps, endemic plants for aperitifs, even the real wooden spade! The cuisine, typical, is well thought out. Try the Holy Spirit soup, if you haven't already done so. Otherwise, let yourself be tempted by sausages, sausages and other sweet potatoes. The flavoured coffee is delicious. And if you are lucky, the chef will come out of his kitchen and share with you his passion and maybe some of his secrets!

Ginsu is a good restaurant which proposes the great classics of Japanese gastronomy, concocted with always very fresh products. The ramen and sushi are excellent. A very nice option to change a little from the traditional cuisine of Terceira.

You can enjoy delicious cozido in generous quantities... as well as tuna and bitoque à regional (steak served with fried egg and French fries). The friendly, English-speaking staff will be happy to advise you. Small terrace in summer to soak up the sun. A safe bet in the city center.

This unpretentious establishment is ideal for enjoying a menu with iodine flavors. Not far from the airport, you can choose between shrimps, octopus, squids and a whole menu of seafood always very fresh. Some carnivorous options too. And the reception is rather nice.

This traditional restaurant, nestled in a small street just behind the waterfront (at the marina) is well known for its fado concerts, which are played almost every night. You will understand that the food is not particularly refined, but you don't have many options in the surroundings so to fill your stomach, it will do the trick!

A restaurant with a stylish décor, contemporary atmosphere and innovative cuisine. Chef Paulo gives a judicious gourmet touch to the traditional flavors of Portuguese dishes, and let's face it, it's quite a success! The food is very good, but does the atmosphere of the place also contribute to the price? Certainly the prices are a little higher than in the surrounding restaurants, but considering the quality, we assure you that the prices are justified.

On Topo's main street, a small snack bar with a restaurant feel is housed in an old village house with thick lava stone walls. The menu features pizzas and burgers, as well as excellent regional and Portuguese dishes. At lunchtime, a buffet is available at democratic prices. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and a small terrace has even been set up in front of the establishment for fine weather. One of the only places to eat in this isolated corner of São Jorge island.

A rustic décor, an authentic cuisine, you eat good products on a background of Portuguese telenovelas (sitcoms), carefully followed by the regulars. Everything here is incredible. The building, all wood and lava stone, clinging to the hillside. The interior design, both classy and warm, with smooth concrete and wooden furniture. The view, from a large bay window and panoramic terrace, over the entire north coast of Pico to São Roque, the ocean and São Jorge in the distance. Then there's the food: perfectly cooked regional meats, fish spiced up with Azorean peppers and lightly revisited classics of Portuguese cuisine. It's a no-brainer.

Clean lines, white walls and light wood furniture are the hallmarks of this cliffside Japanese restaurant, housed in an old Azorean house. Access is via the terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the Faja de Ribeiras below. On the menu, sushi of course, prepared with local fish. Lost on a forest road along the coast, a small white house and a large wooden cabin, separated by a rustic, friendly terrace overlooking the ocean. An atypical location for an equally atypical concept: on the one hand, a "gourmet light meals restaurant" offering star-rated tacos, burgers and pitas; on the other, a cocktail bar, where you can enjoy an Azorean gin in a gentle musical atmosphere, admiring the waves. It's hip, it's original, but above all, it's very good!

A small vintage turquoise truck parked on a downtown square, it's impossible to miss Monica's friendly foodtruck. Here, they only serve good food: burgers and home fries with Flores cheese, crispy chicken sandwiches or a delicious chili. All of this can be accompanied by cakes and sweets that are simply amazing, or a lemonade with seasonal fruits. In the summer, a table allows you to eat in the sun. The best burgers in the world? Well, they're certainly delicious... Ah! Boca Santa uses "bolo levado" bread (a specialty of the Azores), local beef or pork, São Jorge cheese and crunchy vegetables. All this is accompanied by fries unlike any other: a mixture of potatoes, sweet potatoes and yams. Desserts and lemonade are homemade. Located in the municipal market, this is a young, local and plastic-free place to take a gourmet break, or to have breakfast on Saturday mornings.

Ideal for a short break before or after a (sub)marine excursion. Think about it for breakfast, just for a drink or for lunch. You can choose from salads, hamburgers, etc. The welcome is friendly and the waiters speak English. Tourists and locals meet in a joyful and cheerful atmosphere. You have to go to the counter to place an order, then we come to serve you your dishes at the table. The terrace overlooking the port is quite pleasant. A simple address with a good price-quality ratio.

An excellent restaurant in the center of Praia da Vitória. In the dining room, the Swiss owner is multilingual, and welcomes you in Portuguese as well as English, German and French. In the kitchen, his wife prepares delicious dishes using fresh local produce. The meats are very tender and absolutely delicious, at unbeatable prices. Special attention is also paid to vegetarian dishes and side dishes. Make a reservation if you're just passing through Praia, as the room is very small and the place is a victim of its own success!

Without a doubt the most chic - and probably the best - restaurant on the island. In a modern bistro style setting, the dishes served are in keeping with the services of the hotel of which it is a part. Meat and fish are subtly cooked, and are served with local vegetables. It is an original and innovative cuisine that you will taste here, a subtle blend of Portuguese dishes and international influences. The service is obviously impeccable.

At the very bottom of the village of Prainha, facing the ocean, a lava stone house and a large terrace host this friendly wine and tapas bar. On the menu, tapas of course, for a delightful taste of the island's gastronomy: octopus salad, grilled lapas, garlic prawns, meat rissois , a selection of cheeses and cold meats, all accompanied by a selection of Pico wines. The bar has an upstairs room, but we highly recommend enjoying your tapas to the sound of the waves, on the outdoor terrace. A real treat!

This is one of the only restaurants in Santa Cruz. Portuguese specialties are served here, prepared with local produce: meat, fish and seafood, as well as cheese and wine, come from the islands of the archipelago. The plates are generous and well served, with no fuss. You'll be greeted with a smile (and in French!) by the owner. Don't hesitate to ask her questions about the menu, she's very good at giving advice on both food and wine. A good address right in the center of town, and good value for money.

Attention fried chicken lovers! Casa da Galinha (which means "the chicken house" in Portuguese) specializes in fried chicken sleeves for a very simple but quality meal. The chicken is served with fries. Also available to take away.

This is a small and unpretentious address and a very good plan for the small budgets who want to taste the good regional products of Terceira proposed by Roberto. Salads, seafood or nice pieces of meat are on the menu. Simple and efficient! Reservation recommended in high season

Oficina da Esquina is the excellent restaurant of the superb hotel The Shipyard Angra. Of course, like all the good restaurants in the area, local and very fresh products are the order of the day and are featured on a quality menu concocted by chef Vítor Sobral. A chef who works marvelously with the specialties of the archipelago while adding a delicious continental touch. The assurance of enjoying a delicious meal in a bright and ultra-design restaurant.

Aliança is a hybrid establishment that offers a nice hostel, but above all a well known café in Angra. Here you can enjoy excellent pastries all day long, good snacks and some cheap local dishes. In the evening, the nice patio of the establishment is very popular for a drink, especially when a soccer match is scheduled.

The excellent table of the Zenite boutique-hotel is not to be missed during a visit to Angra do Heroísmo. The decoration, with an old map of the world reproduced on the floor and ceiling, is original and tasteful and the garden terrace is a real good plan on sunny days. On the menu, only very good dishes and local products well worked. A beautiful gastronomic experience in perspective!

The owner, Pedro, is very friendly and will not fail to spend a moment with you to chat a little and to share some secrets of the island of Flores. In short, fast food at a very affordable price and in a friendly and family atmosphere.

In the beautiful Jardim Duque da Terceira, the Casa do Jardim proposes very good small dishes from organic products. A good option for a nice and bucolic lunch. The establishment also offers decorative objects, small crafts and gourmet products to put in your suitcase.
