RESTAURANT SÃO PEDRO
Read moreA real favorite! Delicious food, a subdued atmosphere, superb photos of the Azores on the wall, soft music and, above all, a warm welcome and excellent service. Elidio and João, the two owners of the establishment, will not fail to make you laugh, and are very attentive to your every need. A computer with Internet access is at your disposal free of charge, and you'll leave with a DVD of magnificent photos of São Miguel (for a few euros!). As for dishes, we recommend the creamy, hearty Bife Micaelense (steak with peppers, eggs, garlic and potatoes).
TONY’S
Read moreAt the top of the village, opposite the church. Here you can enjoy a hearty cozido, octopus, cod or steaks à la Tony's in a popular atmosphere. The bar is very lively most of the time, with gentlemen drinking merrily; beware, as the room is large and can quickly become very noisy, like a canteen. The terrace on the second floor, overlooking the square, is a little quieter. Make sure you book in advance, as this is a popular spot! Service is efficient and friendly. A pleasant family atmosphere and generous dishes.
RESTAURANTE CALDEIRAS
Read moreBar and restaurant with a modern and aesthetic design. Choice of typical dishes and excellent grills. If you spend Sunday lunchtime there, it will be an all-you-can-eat buffet: starter, traditional cozido (an extraordinary stew cooked in the heat of hot springs) and two fish or meat dishes, plus a dessert. A good way to taste the different specialities of the island. Pedro gives you a welcome that you will remember: smiling, caring and very good advice. Also discover Azbeer's artisanal beers.
APOLO 80
Read moreDespite (or because of?) its curious name, this small casual snack bar on the main square of Santa Cruz de Graciosa serves a typical Azorean cuisine: seafood rice, alcatra, good grilled fish... For carnivores, don't worry, there is also meat à la carte. The portions are generous and the products are of good quality. Come on an empty stomach, otherwise you won't be able to finish your plate! The food and service are great. We recommend this address to you with your eyes closed.
RESTAURANTE-BAR DOS ANJOS
Read moreLocated next to the Anjos natural pools, it's the ideal place to recharge your batteries after a swim. The decor is a little dated and the service is sometimes slow, but the view over the bay is magnificent. In addition to meat and fish dishes, you'll also be served salads, pasta and a few traditional specialties in season, such as grilled lapas. A good option in this more secluded part of Santa Maria and a lovely spot for an aperitif on the beach.
COSTANEIRA
Read moreAlso known as "Cadafi" (impossible to know why), this brewery, with its excellent local reputation, offers simple and consistent dishes. The products used are local and of good quality. We suggest tuna steak or fried mackerel. The desserts are also delicious. A very good price-quality ratio and kindness in addition! The boss and her sister are friends of France! Authentic place with a beautiful view of the sea. You will appreciate the simplicity and atmosphere that emanates from the premises.
